Actor Julien Guiomar passes away
I don't think he was really known outside France, but you may have seen him in Z:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065234/
Mostly I knew him from comedies, such as this one:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074103/
And he also had a part in a TV adaptation of Kafka's Metamorphosis,

The titles of some of his movies are pretty whimsical -- Tender Dracula, whale with a toothache. He apparently also sang, as he was in a film version of "Carmen" with Placido Domingo and Ruggero Raimondi. Used copies can be acquired through Amazon, and new copies might be available as special orders.

Respeck, Bro.
Now, if the background threat of global warfare erupting out
of the Korean peninsula hasn't put everyone off the lighter
side of politics:

Let's assume Chavez has a point. How is the US ever gonna be able
to understand that? Well actually they do understand it, but controlling
opposition through Lobbying and Advertising are core principals
of the Corporate Empire (CE). There is no viable alternative to
defending money as a self-sustaining myth.

If the star whackers managed to get David Carradine in Thailand, to believe that Vancouver was beyond the star whackers' reach Quaid would have to be crazy --

Here he is! About 3:20 into this wonderfully nostalgic
and marvelously dated trailer from 1969:

But it does seem that the build up itself has been a little bit too much 'that's entertainment.'
Oh for the days of ex-pit pony boy, Harold Larwood, anti hero fast bowler of the bodyline series..now that really was entertainment

The Catholic Church want the Scottish Football Association to sack head of refereeing Hugh Dallas if he sent an "offensive" email about the Pope.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/9225458.stm
Oh dear me. I too received that e-mail and I may have passed it on. Will the Catholic Church now be phoning my employer and demanding I be sacked?
How many Priests have the Catholic Church sacked for shagging kiddies?

I guess it was something we were going to have to face at some point:
'Facebook Plans to Trademark the Word 'Face''
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/11/24/facebook-plans-trademark-word-face/?test=latestnews
I guess if they don't do an about-face, we'll have to face the music pretty much every day.
As for the Palin/North Korea slip: far be it from me to defend her or her obnoxious family, but I thing this was nothing more than a slip of the tongue. The story makes clear when it quotes her that she knows the difference between the Koreas. She just slipped up for a moment.

Ah yes, I know, it was just a cheap shot
I have to say that language slips are funnier with some people than with others.
There was a similar slip in France a few weeks ago:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/27/rachida-dati-former-frenc_n_740828.html
Everybody was having a good laugh about it, and Ms Dati even didn't take it bad*. We are all sure she knows the difference.
Meanwhile it appears that 'inflation' is entering the language in its new meaning. Maybe it should be added to the bbc's filther.
* until that moment that is:
