Ooh, my Sic saw that on Friday! Hasn't given us much feedback though.
We watched Ice Princess this evening. My daughters have seen too many Disney movies. They correctly predicted both that the cute boy would turn up with his special machine to make the pond ice smooth, and the ending.
Still, there are worse ways to spend an evening.

I watched Female Agents on DVD the other night. Both HI and myself agreed that it's a crap name for a film (the original French is Les Femmes De L'ombre).
It is, apparently, based on a true story of some French SOE agents (guess what? Female!) in the run-up to D-Day. It was quite good, although the German Colonel really stole the show over the women. The cinematography was good - very good use of colour.
So, crap title, not-bad film. 3/5.

Watched 'Outpost' a low-budget, British, horror-type movie. Very good for what it was with the budget etc.

I really want to see Coraline. Might go and see it tomorrow.
Watched Starter for 10 last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Must have been a bit galling for Catherine Tate to play the mother of a man who's only 7/8 years younger than her.

Iago, I reckon it would havwe been awsome in 3D... unfortunately we don't have the tech in the local multiplex, what with this being the westcountry.
However I liked it so much I am gonna check it out in 3d next time I am in a 21st century city !

I loved the book, so it would be lovely to see it on screen too. Time Burton and Neil Gaiman sounds like a great combination!

Re-post.
"Best 3D yet.
A story. A moral. Lovely characters. Looked great and (bearing in mind that this 3D stuff is gimmicky) not too gimmicky.
I understand that it was made in stop-motion, but looked much more like it was CGI.
And I,ve got (another) pair of cool glasses."

Just got back from taking a bunch of the school kids to see Night at the Museum 2 and to be honest I was expecting to hate it - I just can't stand Ben Stiller.
I was wrong: very, very wrong - it was superb! The set pieces were inventive, the characters, even the very minor ones, were well done and it was just very funny. Particular praise for Amy Adams, who was adorable, and Steve Coogan as the minature centurion - especially when he comes riding in on his mighty steed.
Well worth watching, even if you're very snobby about Ben Stiller films

Has just watched "Superman Returns" again and thinks the following:-
1) It is very good, can't understand why it got so panned.
2) Brandon Routh is awesome as Supes!
3) The superman Music has got to be the best, most stirring movie score ever, even beats Indie!
4)Why has there never been a Superman film with Brainiac as the bad guy?

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me! Posted May 31, 2009
A bit late in on the Star Trek convo, as I've been away in France....
I have to agree, casting is excellent - especially McCoy. It's not often I think an actor can pull off such a well known roll and not end up acting the part, like the guy that went before, but I think it happened here. I didn't think Simon Pegg pulled Scotty off that well - would it have been too cheesy to have Ewan McGregor do it? I'll leave that open for debate....
I simply can't think of anyone that would have made a better Mr Spock - Zach Quinto was simply sublime, only when he went for the neck-pinch, I half expected him to do the Head-Tilt-To-The-Side thing from heroes LOL! I think they over-sexed Uhura, let's remember the first time she and Kirk kissed in the original series, it was the first mixed race kiss on American TV - a REAL big deal.
I was wondering how the plot was going to get Pike to the planet where he ended up as almost a zoo creature, but it didn't happen, one wonders if this will happen in the following film (sequel/prequel)?

< I didn't think Simon Pegg pulled Scotty off that well>
I have to agree here even though I'm a fan of Simon Pegg. The original Scotty was a dignified character even if he was a comic foil. Pegg plays him a bit clown, a bit lout. It's funny but it's not Scotty.
