Saw the Dark Knight last night.
ing amazing!
I hope everyone involved realises there's no way they can top that, so they shouldn't even try. There's a good chance I'll see it again today on the IMAX

Watched Kung Fu Panda yesterday. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon, if not exactly The Godfather. My nephew really enjoyed it though, and that's what really counted. Only weird thing was that it's a U, and there's, funnily enough, *loads* of fighting in it.

MamaMia,
Not a 'great'film, but I loved it! Real feel good happy film, beautifully filmed. Ok so neither Pierce Brosnan or Meryl Streep can sing, but it didn't matter - and th einterweaving of Abba@s songs was great.

On Saturday I watched The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones. If you enjoyed No Country For Old Men you may well enjoy this one. Great effort for TLJ's directorial debut.
Noticed Reginald D Hunter's upcoming UK stand-up show is called No Country For Grown Men.

Are you insane? Meryl Streep did a great job with the singing. Did you hear The Winner Takes It All? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CNxrLivvRUo
Not the best film every made, but a lot of fun.

<<The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada
I loved that
I watched My Switchblade Romance, which is a kind of slightly lesbianic slasher horror from France. It was weird in that it went between being gory/scary and gory/funny very quickly with a truly disturbing talking out of a slit throat bit following a highly amusing head knocked off with a chest of draws bit. Odd. Nicely pared down though. Small cast, strong protagonist, no American college students.

I watched 3:10 To Yuma on the DVD equipment last night.
I missed the first 20 minutes* but 'er indoors caught me up on what happened, and from there on in it made sense anyway.
On the "really quite good" scale, it scores a "really quite good". So Psychocandy probably won't/doesn't like it.
Oh, and it's got that nice Mr. Crowe fellow for all you ladies to enjoy.

I hadn't planned to see it based on negative reviews from a couple of friends. For sure, though, I know that if Reddyfreddy says I won't like it, I won't. So I'll give it a miss.
Besides, I don't think Russell Crowe or Christian Bale are anything special to look at.
We did finally get around to seeing "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars". It was nice to finally see how it all ended up.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
I hate it when they replace established characters with new actors, didn't mind that Alex had grown up but the new "Evie" spoiled it for me IMHO the film would have worked without her (and I missed Imhotep)
5/10

3:10 to Yuma here too (got it for Christian Bale )
I though it most excellent. But then I love a good western and this was a good gritty western.

After waiting a very long time for it to become available from Netflix, I finally got to see an old classic I'd always wanted to see. "Billy Liar".
I'd imagined, after the long wait, that it would be one of the best films I'd ever seen. But it was just "OK". I didn't dislike it, but I think all those months of anticipation may have led to me expect much better.
Also watched "The Telephone Book" yesterday. That, too, was a bit of a disappointment which came highly recommended.

I read the Phone Book once. Nothing happens for ages, then loads of Polish people turn up at the end.

Saw The Dark Knight at the picture house a couple of weeks back.
Pretty Awesome stuff - really quite excellent in fact. Very very dark though - The Joker was a really proper psychopath
Only complaint is the stupid voice that Bale adopts when he puts on his caped crusader outfit. I know a lot of others have complained about this - that's 'cos it's a stupid voice. They should drop it as they *will* do another one, lets face it.
On the disappointment front I saw what was for me a much anticipated film - No Country for Old Men.
And I was really looking forward to it too.
I think I'm going to have to face the fact that I really just don't get Coen brothers films particularly. I though Oh Brother Where art thou? was proper poo, Fargo is OK at best for me, Miller's Crossing was OK, as was the Big Lebowski.
I thought No Country For Old Men would be different somehow. It wasn't - very much Coen brothers' style and...well not much really.
Really I personally just don't see what's so damn good about their movies. I'd love to but they just don't seem to do it for me.

I rather liked some of theirs- Raising Arizona, Blood Simple and Fargo- but I hated O Brother, Where Art Thou and thought that No Country For Old Men was more than a little over-rated. I didn't hate it, but it was pretty mediocre.
Watched Jon Cassavetes's "Opening Night" last night, which I hadn't seen in ages. It was a bit entertaining and was as good as I'd remembered it being, so we were one for three this weekend.

The 40-Year Old Virgin was on TV. It was rather entertaining I thought, and the characters didnĀ“t end up being annoying like in some other comedies. There was quite a lot of swearing though. You could tell some scenes were improvised. I thought it was really rather good. It had a great credit sequence.

I saw Wild Child yesterday. Moonlight and I are extras in it!
We had a very happy filming time last summer and it was an amazing experience. Watching the film brought it all back.
