I'm going to see "Gone Baby Gone" this morning, no-one seen that yet? The other choice is "Superhero Movie" which I saw a trailer for last week, and doesn't appeal.
My daughter and s-i-l went to see The Happening on Friday. S-i-l hated it, daughter said it was OK. She'd been really keen too

Saw the latest Incredible Hulk movie at the weekend.
Much much better than the other modern effort at this. Many more homages to the original, again a cameo by Lou Ferigno in which he got a speaking part (other than "RAAAAAHHHHH!" and even a Bill Bixby cameo in the form of an old 60s series being played in the background in one scene (the guy himself being long dead) - the other spotted that one.
Not the best of the superhero films but far from the worst too, and reasonably faithful to the comic strips too (with the obvious exception that in the film, every body seems to have to know the guys identity).
Thoroughly enjoyed it
Saw A Scanner Darkly (Keanu Reeves et al.) too as I'd taped it some time ago. Meh. Switched it off after half an hour as it was badly boring us. Not my thing at all.

Watched National Treasure 2 last night.
More of the same really: the bastard-offspring of The Goonies and Indiana Jones before it went weird.
Enjoyable pap.
The man who played JFK in 13 Days, here reprises the presidential role in a way that is more human and personable than credible.
Ed Harris fulfils villain duties.
Ending is so terribly formulaic when it finally arrives it's like checking off boxes.
But honestly; what was I expecting?
Best enjoyed with brain in neutral.

Gone Baby Gone - well I'm surprised this was only a "15" - if I'd have taken my 15 y.o. son along he'd be bedwetting and having nightmares for a week.
This is not for the faint-hearted, it's only pull for me was I'm a sucker for Morgan Freeman and I didn't think the write-up would be as bad as that but it was.
BE WARNED this is not for girls, not for people who love children and it's very realistic. Characters include paedophiles, coke-snorting mothers and bent police.

Went to see Mongol this afternoon. As the reviewer from The Times put it, "they don't make the like this anymmore". Which is stupid, because they clearly just did.
Anyway, if you've seen the trailers (as I did) and are expecting some gore-fest of CGI battle scenes a la LOTR, you'll come away disappointed. It's the epic story about the early life of one Mr. Khan, first name Genghis*. It's in forrin**, with subtitles.
And it's very, very good. Definitely one to see at the kinematograph house as well, as the visually stunning steppes won't have as big an impact on the small screen, I fear.

* Except both are titles, not names.
** Mongolian, to be precise.

If you think the steppes are impressive on a big screen then you should try looking down at them from a planes window and they go on for a long time too

Superhero Movie.
Take a spare pair of underwear, and a tissue to dab your eyes. If you loved Airplane, the Police Squad TV show and Naked Gun, this is for you.
I am ashamed to say I at all the abuse Prof Stephen Hawking got, but I suspect he'd be the first one laughing.
The bit in the graveyard was inspired, and I'm still

"The Lives of Others". Proving the RF/PC polar opposites thing... we both really enjoyed it. So much so, we'll be wanting a copy of our own.
Also "be Kind Rewind", which was cute but not fantastic, and "Control", which I expected to like a lot more, as a fan of Joy Division, but was mainly from the POV of his clingy, whiny wife, so it gets just a solid 3-out-of-five.

"Persepolis". Good stuff! I expected it to be depressing; it wasn't.

I saw an interview where James McAvoy was saying Angelina Jolie isnt too much of an in love with herself primadonna. Which is understandable seeing as she makes rubbish films like "Wanted"
The first bad film Ive seen Morgan Freeman in and a terrible let down after "The Last King of Scotland" if James McAvoy isnt careful his first big film of his career might be his best. Still I suppose if they offered me the chance of snogging Jolie and acting with Freeman plus a heap of money Id say yes too. Even if it meant starring in a worthless and pointless mish-mash between "The Matrix" and "Fight Club".

The movie WALL-E made me cry near the end. But it was very good, and a sweet movie.

Our most recent DVD by post was Elizabeth. It's been kicking around for weeks and we started to watch it once but had to stop. Finally found an evening last week ...
... and that was the night it was on TV!
Enjoyed it, but it felt like a prequel to something more interesting. And Christopher Ecclestone didn't quite work being posh.

Went to see Wanted last night despite intending to go and see Kung Fu Panda.
I don't know if it was meant to be taken seriously, or whether it was intended to be tongue-in-cheek, but most of the time it was like a psychotically violent but very, very silly Matrix parody. I was laughing most of the way through the film, apart from the occasional moments when the violence got too graphic. It was just very, very silly.

A couple of nights ago I watched Pirates Of The Caribbean - At World's End. At least, I started. I got bored with it about halfway through - there's about an hour's worth of it left, which I may be bothered to watch at the weekend. then again, I may not.

I refuse to watch that on account of the 2nd one boring me shitless at the cinema.
Had they cut it down to 1 1/2 hours of the good stuff it would have been a classic but it was just sooooooo bloated with crap...

I watched Atonement. Apart from not being to get over James MacAvoy's totally posh accent - it was great. But for me the best thing about it was the actual look of the film rather than anything else. I suspect I'd prefer the book.
Today I'll be ironing along to The Deer Hunter.

Watched "Seizure!" on DVD last night. Oliver Stone's first feature film, which in itself isn't much of a selling point But it sounded promising: a horror flick based loosely on "Faust" and with such cast members as Mary Woronov, Troy Donahue, and Herve Villechaize. Unfortunately, it wasn't very good at all.
"Keeping Mum" is on its way. I hope that one's better.

Watched the Deer Hunter without the ironing. Blimey, it's lost nothing at all over the years.
