After reading bach through this thread, on one of these sites he does claim to be able to help folks with all the smilies that are available for use. Seems strange that he doesn't use them himself smiley - huh

Yvonne>> He does use smilies quite frequently. Sticking to shorthand like .lol. m8 and the like seems to be quite a common trait for many of the researchers who migrated here from other chatsites....

There's quite a few GA's following this thread, could any of you enlighten me a bit on your recruitment procedures? You recruit a new batch about once a month right? Is anyone who applies recruited, or is there some sort of test or evaluation they have to go through before being accepted into your ranks?

cheers

No tests, no evaluations - although the smiley - angel page does describe a little bit of what might be expected from a h2g2 Guardian Angel: <./>A467606</.>

Sainting ceremonies are held around every two months

Jab [Since 29th November 2002]

The persons acces to this web site is not through an internet connection, the person does not have an IP.

What they do have is a digibox, which has a node address, on the Telewest WAN. He does have a MAC addressm for things like e-mail verification for his interractive services, ie. "TVEmail".

To ban his IP, would mean banning any IP telewest have.

Now this was news to me today, I'd thought it was web based, since that what I'd been told upto today. That and the http:// address to access it.

Anyway by now he knows the score, so talk of a life ban is a bit early.

The sad part of this is staff of the BBC not dealing with him. But the opposite, viewing other users with some contempt for not being friendly. Think they have the situation backwards. Possibly doing nothing promoting the unfreindly situation they are moaning about.

If you see a drunk get into a car, do nothing, then blame the person they run-over for being a road user - the BBC model!

"To ban his IP, would mean banning any IP telewest have."

That's not necessarily a bad thing.

They don't pay for the service, and there is no direct link to any exterior site, including this one. The Telewest digital box is connected to the exterior net for email usage only, not internet surfing. The reason that Telewest subscribers can access this site is through a loophole: because there are BBC interactive sites on the system, any HTML link that goes towards anything on the bbc.co.uk network works...so essentially it is hacking into the h2g2 system.

And yes, that was how I found the site. Yet I always said that I would have no problem with that kind of access being stopped, because I did believe it was wrong.

But lets not turn this into an anti-Telewest/LD-ers thread again, despite every scrap of evidence to prove what I've always proported. smiley - winkeye

I'm not sure that it's fair to assume that the italics have done nothing about the various paramedics and welcoming groups. The italic creature moves in quiet and subtle ways, and likes to perform certain regulatory functions via personal email and off site, rather than in the full glare of publicity....

Saturn... Excuse but i am a t/west Di gital user myself, i do not agree with you, for the simple reason, i or many others havent done anything wrong and we should not be punished for the ignorance of one user.

Now, that's quite enough from you, 'Loopyboopy' - Jimster hasn't made up the rules, the BBC has, and he's only acting according to them, as you well know! He's not harassing you, but treating you like any other researcher who has not followed the <./>HouseRules</.> despite agreeing to when becoming a researcher. Will you PLEASE stop acting the 'victim'!
