Ooh. All that backlog was worth it. Glad to see it's finally being sorted out without any blood being spilt.
Need to be pedantic though.
Diddy, your joke about paranoid schizophrenia would have been more funny if it had been correct. Multiple Personality Disorder is an entirely different condition to Schizophrenia - schizophrenics do not suffer from a detachment of personalities. It's a pychotic disorder and is usually a detachment from and lack of insight into reality - characterised by things like hearing voices, hallucinations and paranoid behaviour, NOT behaviour that indicates two or more personalities.
Just needed to say that. I'm big on mental health issues, and I hate to see people making mistakes.
Great joke though

So I see.
Surely making multiple accounts should be against House Rules? Having a second or a third, I can understand - people use them for their children, or for aliases etc etc. But more than 4? Is that really necessary? Surely that's trolling on a larger extreme?

Suggestion to everyone trying to solve this problem, here and in other threads. To get this converstion away from Ask h2g2, which is one place newcomers are sent to (and these convos say near the top of that), instead post to a journal entry I have created <./>F138071?thread=375360&post=4791998#p4791998</.>.
That way, any newcomers will no easily find this, not join in, and not come under suspicion. That is the main idea, to move away from a place likely to cause real newcomers to be suspected, when they may be perfectly innocent.

Mort - a middle aged Girl Interrupted Posted Jan 31, 2004
I saw he had changed his name this afternoon and advised him to return it back to the Junior.
I don't think there is anything wrong with multiple accounts provided they are for a reason - as the examples Saturnine gives.
Other reasons may be someone onsite that has friends here may want to be part of the gay pages but remain in the closset so creates another account. Some may use a seperate account for fun and wish a seperate account for writing EG entries etc. Someone getting a hard time may wish to create a new i/d to start afresh. All of these are reasonable.
Although I agree this case could be seen as an exception.

Hi Saturnine oue our paths cross again!
I know Paranoid Shizophrenia doesn't have much to do with personalities but if i wrote i had a multi personality disorder then the joke wouldn't seem as funny! Maybe i was worse than i was then
I take much for diagnoses anyway with regards to mental health issues cus as many as half are usually wrong.
Anyway i can see this farc is at a close which is a shame cus i was really enjoying it!
They should dish out the links for these threads as prescriptions for depression as its done wonders for me!!

Just a quick thought for trainspotter:
The different groups here do different things. If you want to join a group work out what you want to do, and how much time you can spend on doing it. That will help you choose a group to apply to join.
There are groups for hanging out it, groups for meeting and greeting people, groups for giving guidance about how the site works (and sometimes doesn't work), groups for selecting entries for the Edited Guide and the UnderGuide, and groups for subediting and polishing those entries. Some are official and have badges, some are semi-offical, and some are just a bunch of dudes.
I for one decided a long long time ago that I had more status and freedom here by being me, sans affiliations and sans badges, than I ever could from signing up and being semi-official. But then my motivation has always been subversion rather than compliance or revolution. (Hard to believe, I know, but there you go).

In addition to his journal, Old Hairy has sent a message to Jim Lynn ("Jim'll fix it.")
Can this be considered...

(It's on the journal thread of Old Hairy, as mentioned in post 348).

it isnt against the hous rules to have more than one account unless you are going to use the other account to cause trouble on site or if you are baned researcher or on pre moderation in them cases you ar not allound to set up another account

Hmm, I thought it was ok to set up other accounts whilst pre-modded as long as it wasn't to avoid the rules, and you were polite enough to tell the staff?
