I've never found out how that happened. Anyone know?
Apparently he's quite nice in real life.

Why thank you Titania
Hello I’m you local friendly AGA (apprentice guardian angel) I am sorry but all the guardian angels are busy right now, but you will find lots of help and useful information on my guardian angel home page (U123456) and I will try to help you as much as I can, until one the guardian angel can get back to you;

**wanders back into the thread after an hour or so away from it**
**reads backlog**
**sound of a head banging against a wall is heard**
What the **** is going on now!
**sound of a mind boggling**
**looks around for the hidden webcam**
This cannot be happening! Can it?

Just so happens I was thinking of setting up a help group, it will be a group founded by me and run by me, I will post duff links and then abandon the help group then deny it, lmfao

Jeez! the backlog

What about ANT(IC)s - Annoying Newbie Slappers (Includes Codgers)?
This whole thing is doing my head in.
h2g2 is running *very* slow in this part of the world the last 24 hours. If people are posting links can they please make a wee note as to what the link is about (so I don't have to try opening the page if its not necessary).
Also I haven't been able to keep up totally with the Laim et al links. Can someone tell me - is each time a new U number set up, or is the U number the same and the username that changes? Or both?
Thanks to the researchers who are keeping track of all this

Kea - new researcher IDs for every new help group except the latest one, which switched from A to B
...although the user name has been deleted from some of the previous IDs, leaving only a 'U123456' trace

Everytime he gets a page moderated he opens a new account. Perhaps he is embarassed, or doesn't realise that he can re-edit his page, and that the moderation only affects the previous content.(despite the email saying he can)
He probably doesn't even realise how big this site is and the extent of the groups that are already set up, he wants to be a big fish, and be important - not a crime. He is young, he won't understand what people are trying to explain to him about groups etc if he isn't used to the site - which he obviously isn't. If I were him, i would close my account too and join under a new name.
The community rising up and attacking him, or at least doubting his motives is not what the spirit of h2g2 is about.
Most people would spend time to get to know the site before seeing where there is a gap that they could perhaps fill. This kid has only been onsite a couple of weeks, so no wonder he is stepping on toes.
Perhaps he is used to using other web based communities where a new account or a new name is not able to be connected to the old one.
He obviously doesn't realise that we pick up on the pattern and know it is him, particularly via aceings.
I am not condoning offering help and then unsubscribing from postings or giving out dodgy links. But if he feels so embarassed he wants to 'start again' then how can he follow up posts.
I also believe he is on a digibox alot of the time which makes previewing posts impossible. How many of you here have never given a dodgy link?
As I say, I am not condoning this behaviour but maybe it would help to look at why he opens new accounts??
As a community we are quick to pick up on this. I have heard references to pre-mod, banning and criticism of the italics for not dealing with this.
But as a community, what do you think you can do to help? Tutor? Support? Advise?
I strongly believe that this researcher only opens new accounts through shame or embarassment of being moderated or questioned.
Afterall, this is just a kid that is very misguided.

Mort, I agree with you to a point. But how many chances should he get? He's had good friendly advice (not JUST criticism) and chosen to ignore it. There must come a point where he becomes personally responsible for his actions despite youth and lack of experience...

Tend to agree with WR. There comes a point where one holds one's hands up and says "yeah, my bad, can we move on?" Instead of consistently trying to do the same thing under a different name time and again. The latest appears to be impersonating a police officer, for which (s)he has been justifiably yikes'd.

It seems that the 'h2g2 Porters' have had a bit of a rebranding exercise in the last hour or so.
So step forward and say hello to your all new 'Junior Helpers'
Did someone mention that you couldn't make it up?
