Mozart Amadeus Wolfart was born on this day in 1756, 250 years ago. His parents knew he destined for a career in music when they gave him a paper bag and he put it on his head.

"He wrote the tune for Twinkle twinkle ikkle star, when he was 3"
I couldn't find any reference to that on the net when I searched a couple of weeks ago, so I don't know if it's an urban myth. Anyone know? I do know that Brian Wilson used TTLS as a sort of template when he was writing 'Surfer Girl'.

Thanks Wilma.
I wonder when a variation stops being a variation and becomes a new tune in its own right?

"Bitch" is the only swear word not to have a scatological, sexual or religious origin.

Pinniped Posted Jan 28, 2006
Doesn't "bitch" itself have a sexual origin?
I guess you mean it doesn't refer to the sex act.
But then again "arse" doesn't refer to excrement.
It's only scatalogical by virtue of physiological proximity, poor word.
(btw, I only came here to report that I met somebody calling themselves Persephone Treacle. Doubtful that it's a birth-name, surely, but a cute handle nonetheless)

"But then again "arse" doesn't refer to excrement".
Hmmm, yeah, true.
Persephone Treacle? Nice. Actually I'm leaning towards calling our first offspring 'Terpsichore Serendipity'.

in a recent American poll (CNN/USA today/Gallup) 49% said George W. Bush was a "uniter" and 49% said he was a "divider".
Did the remaining 2% think he was a protractor?
possibly their ruler? (gah!)
the eraser of Bin laden? (lol)
a more sharperner dresser than his counterparts ( i bet he'd say that and not notice the mistake)
i would have said no, they thought he was an idiot!
