A508286 - Not Quite Traditional Music: I didn't really like this one. It took me a while to pin down exactly what the Researcher was talking about, and there were too many references which seemed to be either in-jokes or pet peeves. 2/5
A597305 - Molly Pitcher: It was interesting, but I'd like to know a bit more - a lot of the Entry consists of what telling us about what wasn't true about her. Still, if the purpose of an entry is to stimulate interest and lead to further reading, it did work on that level. 3/5
A416305 - The Peak District, Derbyshire, UK: An interesting start. I'm sure that lots of the ramblers, walkers and climbers we have on site could provide lots more information and bring a lot to it. Same as last - 3/5 for the potential.
A1304957 - Mozart's Death - Murder, Accident or Disease? 4/5. A few small internal inconsistencies which don't spoil the reading of it too much.
A994737 - 'Waiting for Godot' - the Play: While the play might seem boring, it's one of the most enjoyable ones I've ever gone to watch. The entry gives a good introduction and avoids the Emperor's New Clothes syndrome or automatic rejection that is often common when people talk about it. 4/5

Hey guys, sorry to interrupt the flow here, but I've been pitching an idea to the post team and I'm just looking to see if any of you lot are interesting in being involved. Basically, the idea is an ongoing, derveloping story based on the guide. Each week an author will write a story based on five randomly generated guide entries. They will then produce five more random entries and the next week another author will pick up the story will the new entries as a basis. Anyone interested?

Ben - are you talking about a piece of creative writing inspired by 5 random entries, or an expanded review of them?

I do believe it's creative writing for the post...

Further to your suggestion ben, why not get one person to choose 5 Random Entries (like yourself), then people can make up their own stories for the five if they like, then submit them all to the Post? That way you get exposure of 5 EG Entries but also bulk out the Post

Sounds like hell to me....
A590339 - Floccinaucinihilipification ~ floccinaucinihilipilificatious 3/5
A653429 - Carl Gustav Jung - the Man ~ Not light reading but if it's what you were after - 3/5
A447266 - Band Aid and Live Aid ~ A bit listy with all the acts involved, but what else can you do ? 4/5
A1051543 - Bombay Dream - The Musical ~ Somewhat garbled, and not very informative. 2/5
A2788653 - Showaddywaddy - Rick 'n' Roll Revivalists ~ Nice little number. 4/5
Hmm - 3 music related entries - a bit of froth and a 'serious' piece for an average of 3.2
I suppose I'd come back.

Actually Matt, my plan was to write an initial post article explaining the idea, outlining a couple of rules and then giving five opening random entries. It would then be up to the first person to start the story off, based on the five entries. At the end of their offering (we might set a word limit?) they would then list five more random entries for the next person to use as their basis for picking up and continuing the story. I'm not yet sure how long we should expect the story to last, but I was hoping for a continual developing plot. On the other hand, if people generally prefer your idea, we could do that instead.

No, that sounds much better...
My idea sounds naff.

The only problem with this idea is, that you'd maybe have two unfinished stories and nothing more.
As far as I know, the current Post policy is not to accept a series of stories that's not finished, because the experience seems to be that otherwise they stop, leaving the plot in mid-air.
So you'd have to make sure to have enough contributors right from the start, and once all the sories are in, they'll be published in chronological order.

Fair enough Bel, that seems reasonable. So we line up one contributor per episode for, what- five? Ten? However many people we can get I guess. Unless people reckon they want to do more than one. How many parts would be good?

Okay so can I put anyone down as a contributor? Also, Bel, any chance of putting an entry in the post to tap the readers for contributions in advance?
Key: Complain about this post
