Interesting experiemtn psychorp. Probably doesn't prove anything, as you say, but seems to suggest at what the guide does that wiki doesn't.

I tend to see our main aim as entertaining as well as informing, so my criteria when reading W*ki may have been slightly skewed.

Naybe your criteria was skewed Pyscorp, but I tend to find entries that aren't well written usually cause me to loose interest, and most of those aren't entertaining.

Funny, I've had a huge link to the InfiniteImprobabilityDrive on my space for ages, but had totally forgotten what a gem it can be... Excellent experiment, my five:
A689088 - Scuba in Croatia - read, due to living nearby, not too bad
A12736758 - London Smog 1952 - read, I like atmospheric chemistry,
A12925091 - Sciatica - ouch, just scanned
A12644110 - Gustav Mahler visited England apparently - read, not sure why
A2998452 - The Magic Roundabout, Swindon - read, excellent, I do like a good roundabout me.
So, I read 4/5. WHich is pretty good I would say.

Time for my go.
1. A23502999 Scrapbooking Basics.
Skimmed it. Not really my thing.
2. A23499039 Rectal Bleeding
Quite a recent one, but I hadn't read it. After a title like that, I had to.
3. A18154857 The Curtain Wall: A Castle's First Line of Defence
I started reading this but didn't finish as I'm relatively familiar with the subject matter and I remember the entry from PR.
4. A3641744 Launching and Landing a Single-Lined Kite
I'm sure this is a good entry but I'm sorry to say I have really no interest in the subject matter at all. Didn't read.
5. A14608523 King Tupou IV of Tonga
I read. Very interesting.
2.5/5
My favourites were Rectal Bleeding and the King of Tonga.

I'm going for a Wiki-challenge:
1a) A15717323 - Advent Calendars. A good history, as comphrehensive as it could get and great to read
1b) No Wiki equivalent exists. Best I could do is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent which is decent, by Wiki standards, but doesn't read as well.
H2G2 1 - 0 Wiki
2a) A863435 - Meatloaf. I'm generally wary of 'band' Entries turning into 'list of album' Entries, but this is well-written and decently comprehensive.
2b) The Wiki equivalent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat_Loaf) is equally good, and with a similar amount of trivia. Can't split 'em.
H2G2 1.5 - 0.5 Wiki
3a) A2181638 - Danny Wallace. A decent article on a fairly uninteresting man. Acceptable.
3b) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Wallace_%28writer%29 is uninteresting and incomplete. Not a classic contest, but hootoo takes it.
H2G2 2.5 - 0.5
4a) A4075184 - Camp Yamhill. Bizarrely enough, it felt readable, even though my chances of being interested in the place are precisely zero.
4b) No Wiki page. Strike out!
H2G2 3.5 - 0.5
5a) A869835 - Wollongong. Yeah, it's a hometown Entry, but it's a good'un. Those bits of local oddity and bizarre crime are always worth looking out for.
5b) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wollongong. Yawnarama! Who cares what the mean rainfall is, or what percent of the population is Macedonian? Dire!!!
H2G2 4.5 - 0.5
A resounding victory there. Pat yourselves on the back.

Oh, by the by, emr:
"1. A23502999 Scrapbooking Basics.

Well, a) you edited it!
And, b) You failed to correct the spelling on 'inidivividual'
For shame!

Yes I did edit it (it's on the FP today, oddly) but I can't see that spelling mistake. Can you point me closer to it?

I will expect the standard grovelling apology, of course.

Found it - it's in Advent Calendars - A15717323 "inidividual"
Nothing to do with me, squire.
