Post Team

Just as a reminder, your idea will be in tomorrow's Post. If you don't get the response you need, yell. I'd really like to see this happen.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013

A2441071 The Years of Billy Joel's 'We Didn't Start The Fire' - 1949
Interesting but have read it before so just skimmed it this time. Will have the blasted song in my head for the rest of the day now smiley - grr

A285013 Crayfish Disc. At least it was short.

A199488 Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night. Interesting and informative enough. Pretty good for an entry from the last millenium.

A6345407 John Titor: a Time Traveller From The Year 2036?. Interesting and well written, I skimmed the bit about the time machine though.

A855254 Greek Myths - Death and the Underworld. Ok, part of a larger project, didn't make me desperate to read the rest of it but good to know it is here in case I ever want to read up on the greek myths

Okay, here we go again:

A155927 Queuing-

Sort of interesting, butone of those entriesd you feel probably wouldn't mkae it today. 2/5-

A8819832 The Amen Break-

A well written and interesting piece. Laden with personal opinion, but I have half a mind that it makes the entry better. 3.5/5

A543052 Murray Walker - Commentator Extraordinaire-

Good entry this, well written and interesting. 4/5

A6756636 Cuban Sandwich - engineering marvel-

Good entry, well written, certainly made it sound enticing, but it went on a gnats too long, and into a bit more detail than I thought was necessary. 3.5/5

A693948 Constant Velocity Joints

Really goodn entry, to my suprise. Makes some relatively complex concepts comprehensible. Gets a bit weighty once or twice, so it only gets 4.5/5

17.5/25

Mu Beta

Seeing as I've just written Part 2 of Whatever Next, I'd better have a quick play...

A577019 - Hearing the World Around Us - Good enough I suppose, but a little lacklustre for me, as it more or less is the duplicate of one of my Year 8 lessons. 3/5

A2554157 - Bedlam. Read it before - an excellent Entry. 5/5

A695342 - Great Outdoor Markets - Meh. The collaborative community at a low ebb. 2/5

A624250 - Beauty - A whole bunch of words and anger, signifying...er...not very much, to be honest. 3/5

A12644697 - The River Don Engine - Pin at his best, making engineering palatable. 5/5

I remember having read the River Don one when it hit the FP back then, and I agree with you, B.

Okay guys, Mu Beta's excellent second episode is now available EXCLUSIVELY in this issue of the post. Don't miss it and, more importantly, don't miss the opportunity to be in charge of the next thrilling installment of Whatever Next.

Exclusive, is it?

I'd better go and delete the original entry then...smiley - run

I think you're probably safe to ignore most of the actual words I use. My original's still on my space, but you can't see it on any other site. Anyway, Danny B has now volunteered for episode three, but there are still seven more slots to fill, if anyone wants to put their name down for the other parts yet to come.

And in the spirit of Mu Beta's return to the original purpose of this thread:

A13492640 - Massively Multiplayer Online RPGs - long, detailed and well written 4/5

A1061308 - E coli - Friend or Foe? - Ste/Farlander's epic! 5/5

A280919 - Cardiff, South Glamorgan, Wales, UK - collaborative Entry. Good on things to do there, and famous people from Cardiff 4/5

A471142 - Plastic Storage Containers - short and not terribly interesting, though I'm not sure what else there is to say! 3/5

A196283 - The Number 206265 - an old, short Entry. 1.5/5

Tailed off a bit at the end, but a good batch, all in all smiley - smiley

Well Danny's exciting new episode is now available to read and enjoy http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A35574384 here. So many questions to answer- what will the professor do when he finds out Dave and Buckeye are on to him? Who is his partner in crime? Just who is the mysterious buckeye? Seven more episodes to go, who's gonna answer them?

Time for another sojourn via the Infinite Improbability Drive.

A5133395 - Halibut and Salmon Fishing in Alaska. Very well researched, and full of information. If I intended to go Halibut and Salmon fishing in Alaska I'd definitely print this and take it. 7/10.

A1038700 - A Beginner's Guide to Feng Shui. Interesting enough. Not that much to it perhaps, but ok for what it was. 3/5

A21989992 - Book Production in the Carolingian Period. A snippet of history for bibliophiles. I'd have loved more detail and interesting facts I didn't know, but it wasn't bad. 3/5

A264890 - Neil Jenkins. Very short, could well be out of date by now, and I'm not overly interested in the subject matter. 1/5

A689123 - Grant Lee Buffalo - the Band. Just not really my kind of Entry. I usually find "timeline-of-a-band" Entries a bit of a slog. I didn't read it all the way through. 2/5

It's amazing the stuff you find playing this game, isn't it?

A627699 - Costumed Character Etiquette - Bizarre and almost entirely meaningless. 1/5

A12921581 - Car MOT Test - Interesting, but not exactly things that I didn't already know. 3/5

A492004 - Piers of East & West Cowes - read it plenty, but still high-class. 5/5

A21648783 - Occam's Razor - A bit too much like a sociology paper for my liking, but undeniably interesting. 4/5

A1029278 - Snooker - Brilliant! Undeniably the work of a nascent genius. (mark withheld)

Icy North

I'd forgotten about this smiley - smiley

A516467 - 'Twin Peaks' - the TV Series: Good and thorough - 4/5

A843004 - Luxembourg: Does the job - 3/5

A3577197 - The Origins of Yellowstone National Park, USA: Very well-written - 4/5

A970779 - Veganism without Tears - an Intro to Adopting a Vegan Diet: Packed full of information - 4/5

A13900178 - Fata Morgana - The Superior Mirage: Great subject, but could be longer - 3/5

A good set!

smiley - cheers Icy

A480520 - Meteors, Meteorites and Meteor Showers. Fairly good. A handy basic primer which is what it's designed to be. 7/10

A447978 - The Englischer Garten in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. A bit light - I get the impression from reading between the lines that there are a lot of interesting facts which are just whizzed over. 2/5

A2939484 - Finding the Perfect Shower Setting. Not in the mood at this time of night. Although it did give me the word 'alltamist', as well as being 2 out of the three Google hits for it.

I'll leave the remaining two for tomorrow. smiley - yawn

Sho - employed again!

A818084 - Locks of Love - the Hair Charity
The Gruesomes were growing their hair for this, but #1 got impatient and had her hair cut and #2's hair didn't grow quickly enough. Good entry to publicise good cause

A260380 - Honeymoon Rock, The Isle of Mull, Argyll, Scotland
Too short - wouldn't get into, let alone out of, PR these days

A971309 - How to Build a Home or Small Office Wireless Broadband Network
I didn't read it because it doesn't appeal. This is from 2003 so possibly needs updating

A39268281 - Constellations: Carina 'the Keel'
I'm totally not into astronomy but some of these constallation entries are really readable. This one is a bit dry for me, but at least I now know that all those ladies by the name of Carina that I know (and there are 5 of them) have a name that translates to "Keel" from latin

A3347020 - The End of the American Civil War
I'm slowly working through Bernard Cornwell's novels about the American Civil War so I found this an interesting side-read.

Not sure about that haul. I'll have to try again I think to find something a bit more appealing to me.
