Did you smell a lot of paint recently. I find that if I smell something, my nose becomes reminded of the smell and I can detect that component in other smells for days afterwards.

Bet you walked through some wet paint at some point earlier. It's still drying so you can still smell it.

Either that, or you think you can smell paint, when actually it's cheese.

If - you should go and see your doctor. No really. What you are describing is called a'phantom smell'. It can be a symptom of migraines (don't I know it) but if you don't have a history of migraines, and your experiencing things like dizziness, then it's best to check with your doc that you haven't got anything that could be causing pressure in your skull and creating this sort of effect. I'm not a medical expert, so please don't take my word for it, but best be safe...

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Won't you get cheesed on cheese, and stoned on stones? smiley - erm yep, go see smiley - doctor could be something, could (most likely) be nothing... But best for going to the smiley - doctor esp as there are other symptons smiley - weirdsmiley - yikes Some infections can give rise to such things as this, as far as I can remember; know how your sense of taste screws up when you've a cold/infection, same kind of thing I guess, as smell is a quinteresential part of taste, and visa versa smiley - huhsmiley - erm but check it out for sure smiley - zen

Yes. But first I'd have to convince you that both the human senses of hearing and smell are capable of long distance communication which most 'normal' human beings refuse to consider possible. Discussion of such experiences is often seen like UFO encounters and will lead others to believe you are crazy and disrespect you.

Scientists have only recently been able to discern that Elephants have a range of vocalisations below human reception which can travel for miles. Perhaps in another century or so we will be open minded enough to allow that humans have similar sensory capacities.

The suppression of 'smell' as a functioning sense has been ongoing thru most of our civilisation process. Even it weren't repressed and effectively dormant in the conscious modern mind there is still the problem that it as individual as sight (in terms of colour recognition and colour blindness) and as selective as hearing when at some level we just 'don't wanna know'. Much of the world stinks after all.

But, you could for example be telling yourself that you are bored, that your daily routine of life is like watching paint dry.

Or the smell of paint could simply be an unconscious warning. You could be telling yourself that you are exposed to an unseen or unknown toxic agent such a 'lead' in the plumbing of your shower. Lead used to be a major constituent of paint and it's possible the words 'paint' and 'lead' are synonomous in your personalised olfactory dictionary.

A very grey area in a disputed field which will have as many individual interpretations as there are noses. Let me know if you are able to resolve anything.

Well, not necessarily or exclusively paint, but sometimes strange things. And a metallic taste in the mouth.

To test if you really are the queen, do you walk everywhere on red carpet and have a disfunctional family?

>It can be a symptom of migraines

When I have a migraine coming on I get a smell of cold in my nose - the same smell you get when you stick your head in a chest freezer to get that bag of peas out of the bottom. I also get pins-and-needles in my nose and cheeks which drives me crazy.

Are you sure you're not in a building that has had a few rooms painted today? Have you been walking around or have you been stuck in one place all day?

Liam.
