Captain_SpankMunki [Keeper & Former ACE] Thanking <Diety of choice> for the joy of Goo. Posted Aug 27, 2003
Mine was used an an insult but I liked too much so I used it for a name instead. The underscore (_) is an essential part of the name
It did have, for a while and until fairly recently, ~Called-To-Arms-From-Given as an ode to Iain M. Banks' Major Quillan in Look to Windward but it meant I didn't have much room to fit comments on the end of my name.
Liam.

A Super Furry Animal Posted Aug 27, 2003
Mine is from "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen. Halfway through the song Freddie Mercury sings "are you ready?" and the rest of the band reply "Ready, Freddie". Had to experiment with spelling 'cos a lot of the more "normal" variants had already been taken on the system I was using at the time.

Cheerful Dragon Posted Aug 27, 2003
According to Chinese Horoscopes I was born in the year of the Dragon. My sister gave me a book on the year of the dragon, and the book says I was born in the year of the Cheerful Dragon. I'm usually quite cheerful (or I try to be) so I adopted the name for most online purposes.

Ami of zx - no badgers here! Posted Aug 28, 2003
It's Ami because my real name is Ami (and no it's not short for anything; my dad spelled it wrong on my birth registry) and the 'of zx' is a prefix I use on all my emails. I used to just have amib for my email address (my surname starts with b) but I was getting 273 spam messages a day. Now that i have zx in front of it, I only get messages from people I know. It's really useful.
So there we go, a slightly boring name for a slightly boring researcher who doesn't spend nearly enough time on h2g2.

Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry! Posted Aug 28, 2003
Erm, interesting!
I'm Rains because it's taken from my last name (Raynor), and one of my friend used to call it me all the time when he was having a phase of giving everyone nicknames. This one just stuck!
And it was either that or Lins, and that seemed boring.
As for my tagline, whatever takes my fancy at the time . I'm just trying to keep track of 2 jobs at the moment, hence....

lazy like panda cat Posted Aug 28, 2003
Ok I'm just gonna copy and paste from from my space so I wouldn't bother goin there cos this is all it says.
There once was a bee-hoo-tiful panda who lived in a green and leafy place and ate bamboo aaaaaaaaaall day long.
Meanwhile in a far away place filled with cushions there was a cat who slept aaaaaaaall day except for occasional bouts of stretching.
Unfortunately due to geographical and anatomical differences they did not meet and produce panda cats. But truly it is the most magnificently lazy mythical creature in non-existence.

Foggy (and a little gloomy too) Posted Aug 28, 2003
I wanted to chat online & couldn't think of a name for myself, so the chat name FoggierGuide was generated for me. I liked the foggy part because my brain is often muddled&fuddled & i'm usually in a state of confusion, & I think 'foggy' represents that well. I was Foggywood when I first came on here, but I dropped the wood part cause I was worried that my name would sound too masculine & thus lead to confusion at some point. So now I'm just Foggy, otherwise known as 'that weird girl', cause I often think I'm quite weird & am under the assumption that other people think so too

Lenny (Lynette) Posted Aug 28, 2003
I'm Lenny - its a name I got in my first week at secondary school. I thought it was after Lenny Henry because I thought I was really funny. It actually turned out that people had difficulty pronouncing my name (Lynette - people like to put a 'u' in it somehow) and took the name from Kylie's character in Neighbours....

GreenHayGirl Posted Aug 28, 2003
Whenever I can't think of a word or a name or the answer to a question, I always say Bob Cratchett! Don't ask me why or how it started but thats how it is. Now when I'm being affectionate I call my husband (Wulfric) Bob Cratchett! (You'll see it on front page) so naturally I would be Bob Cratchetts Wife!

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Aug 28, 2003
Simple, really - Titania is one of my RL nicknames (not my idea) and my virtual pet Ripley (given to me by on my birthday by one of my h2g2 friends) is usually somewhere close by - he used to be Ripley the unau baby, but I think he's growing...
...next year he'll probably be Ripley the unau teen - anyone got any tips on how to handle a teenage unau?
