Lighthousegirl - back on board Started conversation Nov 10, 2001
We were chatting in the Lighthouse Bar, as you do, and the question of what do you call a group of h2g2 researchers came up...
So far we have had a couple of suggestions
A Whimgaggle
A Post Office
A Tree Stump
A confederation
A cuddle
So our question is
What should the collective noun for a group of h2g2 researchers be?
All suggestions welcome!

Hmm, a drift is probably one of the best so far...
If I think of anything that might be better, I'll come back and post it.

I'd stick with 'group' until I get anything better. 'Battery' seems quite accurate, seeing how you get a machine-gun spray of answers to any question.

Considering how much we talk, how about a "gab of researchers"? Or the previously suggested "babble" works, too.

I guess a simulpost of researchers would be a pair or a couple.
Drift seems the best to me, since that is what we do so well!

Yup. And it's got a nice kind of sound to it: "A drift of Researchers", a bit like "a murder of crows"

I like drift, it's got an accumulation feel to it. My first thought was an ignorance, as we never seem to quite know the right answer, but get there somehow.
