Maybe it should be a discussion or an indecision?

What about a "lurking" of Researchers, cos' that's what I've been doing ever since LHG suggested asking the community

* giggles at POD's suggestions *
Dancer, if I catch your drift you seem very keen on the idea of a drift of researchers

It's not very clever or inventive, but we do already have a term in use... a community
I rather like drift

I like drift so far, although what about a 'bookmark'?

I thonk we should leave it as unambigeous as possible, therefore a backlog or a bookmark are probably not the best ideas.
I think there's no ambegiousness in drift

It occurs to me that there are those that talk at lot and those that talk a little. Those two groups perhaps can have different collective names.
GreyDesk suggested 'lurking', I'd reduce that to lurk and apply it to those who talk a little - a lurk of researchers.
Metal Chicken suggested 'babble', I'd change that to babel and apply it to those that talk a lot - a babel
The collective noun for when babels and lurks get together must of course be a drift of researchers because - well because Dancer is just not going to accept anything else.

Yes, drift is good.
But when can a drift of researchers actually be called a drift?
What is the collective noun for a group of h2g2 Researchers?
Dancer (put your advert here) Posted Nov 11, 2001
The drift includes the researchers, saying a drift of researchers is like saying "The king of may king".
A drift is thinking to name a group of researchers a drift

Yeah, Drift is way . Gets my vote!
And I like the idea of having a word for the "consumer-side" of a drift. And the suggested "lurk" would fit nicely.
Thus the "lurk of the drift in this thread" would be the researchers of that given group who read but do not post.
I like that!

Actually, the Babel you suggested is good, too, Beth.
Or we could call it a fish... seeing that they are usually rather quiet, it'd be a nice twist.
