Me neither. I suppose it might have been a kind of a contributory factor the other week with that girl I met that turned out to have a boyfriend, but my ability to almost speak Italian's never proved to be a clincher with the opposite sex so far... I do kind of know what you mean about the brain, though, Lucky Star - it's just mine's a lot better at learning and remembering and stuff than it is at thinking of the right words to sow the seeds of romance.

I've yet to met a woman that found being academically clever sexy, though.

I definitely fell for my fiance's mind, and have always gone for clever, geeky types. The one time I went out with someone because he was good-looing and sweet (in spite of not being terribly bright) it ended pretty quickly. So there

I find highly intellegent women very sexy, especially if they work in male dominated fields, and are very determined.

In fact I once had a bit of a crush on a female surgeon, and kept trying to go to theatre with her because she operated in a sexy way.

I knew I'd got over my factor when I watched her operate on a perforated bowel and found her sexy all the way through.

Though the fact I had to leave half way through the operation to vomit didn't do me any favours.

Okay, that last part I do find rather odd. But I would also say I find smart girls very attractive. It was more than just the looks that made guys like Scully back in the X-Files days. Sadly at the same time I'm also rather shallow. And finding a girl that fits both those criteria is very difficult.

But I would also say women in general seem to steer clear of smart guys, rather than be attracted to them. And I don't mean just academically smart, as in doing really well at school.

There's been a development in my life, and I can't see how it can fail to give me the kind of confidence that I sometimes lack in certain situations! Possibly in a self-mocking tongue-in-cheek sort of way, but we'll see how it goes. Details here:

Well, finally some good news from me

I was at a sangria party saturday, and noticed a girl was talking with what sounded like a Danish accent. I got talking to her, and she turned out to be Czech and studying law at my uni. She seemed like a rather interesting person, and even seemed to know a thing or two about physics. I think mainly because my intention was never to chat her up, I was rather relaxed and managed to come across as funny and confident. Well, when she was about to leave I stupidly didn't ask for her phone number, partly because one of the guys she was with I didn't know if that was the bf. Luckily she then asked for mine So I'll probably call her up one of these days, ask her out for something. Maybe that Shakespeare play, she seemed to like Shakespeare as well. Or would that just be stupid?

Maybe I should just go with some Bridget Jones Diary instead.

But this is the best thing that has happened on the NFG front for me in ages.

I reckon it's always the times when you're not *trying* to pull when something happens. I think you come across in your best light when you're just chatting - and let's face it, it's NFGs that decide if they're interested in us or not... all we can really do is talk and let them judge. I ran into her last tuesday. I asked her what she was doing for the weekend, and she said she would be going home to Prague. But that maybe she would see me around at some party, sounded a bit dismissive. But then I was also being my own boring self at that moment. I will give her a call this week though, see if she fancies going out. So keep your fingers crossed
