A Cure For Gravity by Joe Jackson.
The whole "Blaze of Glory" album actually *makes sense* now....

Got to borrow new books - too skint to buy any - thank God my mates have very well-stocked shelves Finished The World According to Garp, scary and intense, I liked The Cider House Rules better.

Just finished "High Fidelity" by Nick Hornby. Made me laugh out loud many many times. Brilliant.

The movie is excellent too!
Also check out "About A Boy" - was disappointed with his new one though.

I'm nearly finished with Two Towers, I wouldn't even mention it but to keep up with this thread. About halfway through Jingo as well, only because it stays at work in my drawer when I go home for days off.
In the midst of these however, the other day I took an hour or so aside to read A Series of Unfortunate Events: Book the First. I'm still not sure what I thought of it.

The latest book by Nick Hornby is called "How To Be Good". I haven't read it, but I've read the other three. High Fidelity is such a classic. A very good reference book for women wanting to understand men a little better

Having devoured with some glee both the Count of Monte Christo (fantastic by all accounts) and Kim (recently entered my top 10) I needed a new book ... so bought myself the whole His Dark Materials trilogy ... what can I say ... 2/3rds of the way through Northern Lights (or as it's called in the USA, The Golden Compass) I can barely put it down which makes typing more than a little testing ...

Nick Hornby -
High Fidelity and About A Boy are both excellent. I had to really fight to finish "How To Be Good" though, and when I did I was very disappointed. Not recommended...
Still on "Cure For Gravity" (I'm slow)

Hmm, not sure I posted on this before, but finally bit the bullet as had nothing to read and borrowed War and Peace. Seems pretty easy going really, was expecting a hell of a slog to get through it. Seems pretty good so far but it's not going to quite make thhe top ten.
Also start Tom Jones (no, the orignal in 2 parts) early 1900's edition, with lots of weird spelling and such like!
