I watched The Hunter in Hobart, Tasmania, so I was really fired up, but I was a bit disappointed. C'est la vie as they say in Hobart.

I've been a big fan of Sam Neill since "Dead Calm." That was one terrifying movie.

In prep for the Dark Knight Rises next week watched Batman Begins today.
It is superb, kinda forgot how good it was. And the new one will have a lot to live up to. Watching the Dark Knight on Tuesday, then an early morning showing of Rises on Friday next week! Bosh!

Well couldn't wait until Tuesday and watched The Dark Knight.
Really is extraordinarily good, I has, like yesterday, forgotten quite how good it was.
Bittersweet in some respects, firstly there is no way "Rises" will be able to live up to it, I just can't imagine it can possibly be as good. If it is even in the same "ball park" it will be a tremendous achievement.
But mostly bittersweet because of Heath Ledger, man he is so good. And to think his untimely death means we won't get to see what would usrely have been one of the finest actor of his generation.
Still despite the bittersweetness well looking forward to Friday. Might have to pay extra and watch it on the super humungous screen.

I remember walking away from The Dark Knight thinking they will never be able to create a sequel that does the ending of that film justice. It might well be the most perfect ending of any film.
Still, in Nolan we trust.

The Dark Knight Rises is insanely good.

The Dark Knight Rises is sensational - I think it makes a perfect trilogy (alas not the first - Toy Story holds that accolade for me).
M'friend made the comment that Dark Knight was about two men with masks and ultimately it didn't really matter who was behind those masks. Rises is the better film because Bruce Wayne is at least as important as Batman: there's a powerful, emotional heart underpinning it all which The Dark Knight didn't really have. I was on the brink of tears several times (but then I am a wuss).
Also Anne Hathaway is *the* definitive, accept no substitute, Catwoman. Even as an extremely gay bloke I wasn't immune to her charms: there's a line (used extensively in the trailers) that is one of the sexiest things said by anyone, ever.
I'm suddenly very interested in next years' Man Of Steel: a Christopher Nolan/Zack Snyder partnership could be very interesting.

Ice Age 4. Very disappointing! It was far too much about the seen-it-all-before drama, and far too little about the gags, almost all of which had been used in trailers to make it look like a much funnier film. Also, it had little of the charm of the previous films.
I despair of by-the-numbers movies.

Saw The Dark Knight Rises.
Well.
Meh. Batman is still doing the silly voice thing - weak plot, poor storyline and there is no interesting character development at all.
Weak weak weak.
Frankly Adam West did better.

I might be massively lying though
Didn't someone say above that it would be impossible to outdo the Dark Knight?
The Dark Knight got several Oscars as I recall.
I don't know how they'll top it in terms of awards. Because it deserves it - it really is the best of the lot. All the more stunning as second sequels don't really have a great reputation for keeping up the quality,
If the Godfather II is the best sequel ever then surely The Dark Knight rises is the best - part III ever - and as with Godfather II it actually beats its prequels.
It is a stunning film and a remarkable achievement. I hear on the grapevine that Nolan's next film is to be titled. "Man of Steel"
Can't wait.
And I'm not lying this time

It's Nolan's brother that is involved with Man of Steel. Also, your grapevine is a bit behind with the news.

Jonathan Nolan is one the writing gig for Man of Steel. But Chris Nolan is the executive producer.
THe excitment of this for me is tempered by the fact that Zak Snyder ha the directing gig.

What's wrong with Zak Snyder. 300 and Watchmen, at least for me, are outstanding - particularly Watchmen.

I liked the introductory sequence of Watchmen because it's pretty provocative. But I can't shake off the feeling that the man's more than just a little infatuated with Leni Riefenstahl.

I quite liked Watchmen on first viewing. But when I saw it on DVD I thought it was bobbins.
And the less said about Sucker Punch the better. I honestly thought it was just critics being pooh-pooh about a film because everyone was doing it (like John Carter) but I watched it recently and it really is dreadful. Not even so bad its good, it is "Gigli" bad if you arkse me.
And to think they were thinking of getting Duncan Jones to do the gig.... that would have been so much better.

I don't see why it would be wrong to be inspired by the works of Leni Riefenstahl. She may have used her powers for evil, but that doesn't mean she wasn't an excellent film maker.

Just finished watching The Dark Knight - ahead of going to see "Rises" on Tuesday.
A lot darker in tone than I remembered.
Something Mark Kermode said in his (spoiler-free) "Rises" review the other day was how Joker was a comedic villain - a homicidal comic villain - but comedic, whereas Bain in Rises is all Villain.
I am excited to see that new movie - and it just was my thought having finished watching Dark Knight - that actually the Joker was a lot more terrifying than I had remembered, as I had remembered the comedy.
Mark Kermode on Dark Knight Rises.
