what a fantastic thread! i think finding it will have to tie for the best thing that's happened to me today... the other being getting to drive my brother-in-law's car to work. i maintain that driving his car is the most fun you can have on four wheels

realising that I have the week off from school, so even though it's snowing out they won't give us a snow day and keep us extra at the end of the year. It's nice and warm in here, and the snow is so pretty. Maybe I will make a snowman later. Haven't made one in a few years.

Is that like a mound of snow with holes in it? And is there a story behind it, like is it traditional in some places or has an actual story? I love when things have some kind of meaning like that. but good idea. I probably will.
Thanks

In northern Europe we make them from snowballs - start with a ring, then build another ring but slightly smaller on top of that, and then a smaller, and a smaller, and... then remove one snowball in the first ring to insert a candle - the kind of round flat ones in metallic shell used in decorative lanterns is best
From the side it looks something like this:

neat! We have absolutely no traditions or culture worth mentioning in the US, since everyone's original culture got smushed into one, whether they wanted it or not. So I use bits from everywhere. Nice to know there's some kind of tradition behind it. I"ll let you know how it turns out.

I got an email from my friend. I normally see her at school, but we're on vacation this week, so I haven't heard from anyone.

Completed three levels on Gitaroo-man that I never thought I would. Easily too. Worrying, really.
