Understandably really, I do wonder if it would have been possible to handle this differently without causing such a mass panic.. but then again it's in the past, and navel gazing and mud slinging achives nothing.

New smileys! I like this. I think the indication that we can survive such a dramatic cut in staff members is a good sign of the maturity of the h2g2 community. It's also good to see everyone going on to other parts of BBCi, except for Sam of course, but it's not like he's leaving under protest!

I couldn't understand what the panic was about - just a lot of unfounded speculation, when the indications were really that more responsibility for content would be shifted to the community somehow - which is exactly what has happened. How ironic, on a site with the motto
