*raises an eyebrow, realizing what Gillings has just done. then tries something*
Suptle tongue, serpent tongue
Your words do not effect me.
Magic is my blood, unchangable
Unmutable and not yours to cease.

"Soulstone now grow in heat,
Quickly rise, you can't be beat,
'Till the Soulstone changes hands,
(hands being mine, you understand)."
If you truly believe myself incapable of posessing the Soulstone, then let me die, Mrs. Briggs. I don't believe your story about my inabilities, just as I didn't believe me when you said that there was no Atlantis. Just as I didn't believe you when you said you had "returned" the the Soulstone to the cabinet. Just as I did't believe that your daughter is really the one to follow in your footsteps.
I respect your willingness to lie to protect yourself and others, but I kindly request that you let actions speak louder than words.

Sorry for not getting that post out before yours, GL. And seriously, no pun intended by my last post.

*under her breath*
Lie still where you can be safe
Worry not about this knave
Stay instead where you are
And prepare yourself to save.
Mr Gillings, I will admit that I did not put the SoulStone in the cabinet. I did not tell you that there was no Atlantis however, and Lizzie is not my heir only because I shall be the last of the White Priestesses. I care not whether you believe me or not. However, I will never surrender the SoulStone to one such as you. You have not the strength nor the nobility of character to hold it. And I will not allow you to endanger my family, this ship or her crew needlessly to satisfy some foolish curiousity that you might have. The SoulStone does not belong in a museum any more than I do. It is a living and breathing artifact and does not deserve such rude treatment.
*holds her hand over her bosum and whispers*
Soul's sister, hurry your footsteps
Come to our aid.
My family must not suffer any ill
From this man's rage.
Bring me a shield
Pure blue light to save
My companions true
And myself from this rave.

Okay, we'll leave it here 'till GL can get back. Just so you know, though, I probably won't be able to respond to what you say until about 3:20, Eastern Time. So don't chalk it up to rudeness.

Trapped? Me? Dang.

~ bangs his head on the ceiling while trying to get to the deck. After a moment the banging begins again, repeatedly and loudly, as if someone is pounding on the ceiling with their fists trying to call for help. ~

Shouldn't work, my ghostly friend. I cast a spell of soundproofing just a bit ago. You were there when I did it, I believe.

Rereads posts, including the one that I skipped before when I was partly outside of the cargo hold - so that's when I got trapped! But I don't see anything about soundproofing. Is that the bit about outsiders needing a kind word?
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG

I think that was it, d'E. I didn't quite understand that that was it's purpose either, until after rereading it.
It also appears that we simulposted, G7. My post (no. 100) stated that Gillings' spell about taking away your magic voice worked. Since I have to take them one at a time, that means that your subsequent counter-spell couldn't work, since your magic voice had already been put out of commission. Similarly for any subsequent spells.
As for Gillings' heat spell ...
*The soulstone quickly heats up to unbearable temperatures.*

*Sounds can be heard at the fore hatch. It sounds like someone hacking at it with a sword.
Suddenly, blue flames erupt around Gillings.*

*removes the SoulStone - still in its doeskin wrapping - from her bodice and throws it to the floor as far away from Gillings as she can*
Puss, watch that and don't let anyone near it!

*the cat, quick as a flash, runs over and grabs the soulstone in her mouth. she crawls back in a far corner of the hold, between some of the casks*

Didn't Sarah's spell only keep her from not being stuck to the floor? Oh, well. In the event that it didn't,....
"All occupants in this cargo hold,
Except the caster of this spell,
Be like statues, caught in stone hold,
Until my story I can tell."
"Door of this hold, be as strong as steel,
Keep those that would stop me at bay.
Treble your strength then, twice more,
And let fire not harm you today."
"Soulstone, now the time draws close,
Come into my hand,
Fly through the air, I want you most
Oh stone of the now lost land."

*struggles, but cannot move. through paralyzed lips, she manages to say*
Puss, hold it tight!
