*once Goodschad has gone, Martens checks again for signs of alcohol*

*glances in to see if the captain is there. sees Martens*

Pardon me, Mr Martens. Have you seen the Captain?

Thank you, Mr Martens. If you do see him, please tell him that I am looking for him.

*walks back out to the deck*

*Enters and secludes himself out of the sight of the doorway. Waits for the First Mate.*

*the cat pushes through the open door and looks around*

*hears a noise of the door opening, then realizes it's only the cat. A brief, unreasonable wave of paranoia sweeps over him and then he realizes it's only a cat.*

*the cat looks around and goes to explore a corner. however, once she disappears into the shadows, she turns around to watch*

I think that it may be a while before he shows up here. I'm pretty sure he got the note, though, because there's action in his private quarters

He went to his cabin with someone and needs to finish with them before coming here.

that's alright, I'm in no hurry. I just wish I could pump the kitty for information while I'm down here.

are you sure you can't? have you tried? *innocent*

*whispers, feeling somewhat foolish*

Well, now, Kitty, what are you up to? Do you know anything about what Richardson's been up to lately?

*the cat peers out from the corner, considering for a moment*

[cat] richardson? all i know is that he's odd. i haven't had much chance to follow him around. i've been busy with... other pursuits. i'll try to keep an eye on him, though.

*staggers back, taken by surprise, then regains composure*

Well, perhaps we'll see what he's been up to when he gets here. I'm afraid he's responsible for this stowaway being here in the first place. And I don't trust her. God forbid anything happen on this ship. Especially with Lizzie and Mrs. Briggs aboard!

*the cat ponders this*

[cat] i never considered that he might've been involved... but let me just say that she wasn't on board the ship when we left port.

*the cat pauses*

[cat] might i ask you what that thing behind your ear is? i'm terribly curious...

*If you can't trust a talking cat, who can you trust?*

You've got good eyes. While we wait for Richardson, maybe you and I can have a /private/ conversation?

[cat] that might be a good idea, however, it would alert people to the fact that i can talk. and i'm sure you can imagine that keeping that a secret would be a priority of mine. however, after richardson comes, we could go chat somewhere else. or here. either.

Okay, I accedintally started a thread. We'll just have to cover that up. Don't reply to it, and reply to all the other threads you can, to bury it a little.
