what I'm going to tell you is hard to believe, but, being a talking cat, I'm going to assume that you're pretty much open to this sort of thing.

*scratches the cat behind its ears*

i doubt it could be any more odd than some of the things i've seen on this ship...

*the cat rolls over in hopes of a belly rub*

Well, maybe you can tell me some of those things, once we know eachother better.

Back to the thing behind my ear. I'm not from now. That is, I come from a future where time travel has been discovered. This ship is in great danger. I work for an organization called the World Community Temporal Union, and my assignment is to protect this ship. The gadget behind my ear, which no one but you has noticed, I hope, allows me to return to my own time.

*gives the cat a tummy rub*

*Keeps an eye out for Richards*

you're not the only person that has one, you know. the stowaway has one. and she was NOT on board when we left port. i would've known.

*the cat enjoys her belly rub*

I know. The stowaway is a fugitive from my future. She is a member of an organization known as CART which routinely attempts to violate WCTU laws involving time travel. In essence, they try to change the past to benifit themselves. It is my job to stop her. But I cannot let anyone know, or I would be changing the past myself.

Of course, there's nothing in our laws about what to do if a talking cat notices your earpiece.

*listens, waits. strokes the cat's tummy some more.*

hmmm... i suppose you've noticed that she and richardson are awfully chummy... i get a bad feeling about them both.

you wouldn't happen to know anything about a cross pendant, would you?

*the cat kicks her paws, hugely enjoying herself*

That's why I'm trying to talk to Richards here. I found this *shows off a high-tech looking peice of equipment, about the size of a candy bar, to the cat, then conceals it in his pocket again* in his sea chest. The strange part is I've never seen anything like it. And I've seen a lot.

As for the pendant, I'm not sure. Where have you seen it? Maybe if you described it in more detail I could help.

could it be a disruptor? a scanner? i know he has both...
