Thank you, Mr Head. If you do see him, please tell him that I am looking for him.

They say timing is everything, but mine seems atrocious. I'll be back, Spiny. smiley - biggrin

SPINY (aka Ship's Cook)

Sorry Ma'am, I was miles away there a-thinkin' how it could be that the canoe lady is so far from land and if she brought any vermin aboard with her. Not that I should wish to upset yourself with such unpleasant thoughts, Ma'am.

No, Ma'am, I have not seen the Captain. He is not in the habit of visiting me here, but if I should see him I will convey your message to him.

Oh, and Ma'am, I trust you will not mind, but I have taken the liberty of suggesting to young Miss Lizzie that she might come down here if she wishes and play with some of her toys if she wished to leave them here. She'll be company for me and I can keep an eye on her for you while I cook. I might even be able to fashion some more trinkets like the ones she loves to wear for her. There's not much I can't turn me hand to with a kitchen knife. And I dare say I could make some for you, Ma'am, if you was to leave some examples with me a short while that I might see how they are wrought...

Thank you Mr Head. If you have any questions about this, please ask me. Hopefully dinner shall be ready shortly. I believe that the weather is calm enought that I would like to eat on deck.

*turns around* Hello, Mr Goodschad. How are you? Has Lizzie woken up yet?

Nevermind, I hear the bell. That at least gives me an idea what time it is. I'm famished, Gillings, shall we go eat?

*The Cook is serving up dinner and is busying himself between the Galley and the adjacent Mess table. He can (if the conversation is not too loud) hear most of what is going on from both places*
