nick was also studying at Essex, but i can't remember what.

Loup it would be very if they made the complete Doctor Who (Douglas Adams) Shada series on television as when I read the story line I found it very enthralling.

Alec... That's definitely another name for the list... And with the personal touch as well...
I think we will be ok if we just say he studied in Essex without mentioning what he studied...
I will click on the link as soon as possible... I was on my way to look at what we said about Tom Baker [i should have bookmarked it me..]... Once that's done and i have added the infos next to Tom Baker's name, i will definitely have a look..
As far as i can see, this list is going to be quite long and informative... [as long as i don't forget to refresh the page before editing it...]
I'm still thinking about the piccies... Haven't tried yet, but i have a feeling that it will help making the page look as professional as possible... But that's for later on... One step at the time...
Now looking for the infos on Tom baker...
Back soon...

Kat... yep, that would be great..
That reminds me: i haven't mentioned Shada on the page..
Will correct that as soon as possible...
This list is not as easy to compile as i thought first... Then again, we want it to be as informative as possible [which is great] so obviously some more work as to be put into it than if it was for just a list of names... Hopefully the end result will make us all proud... As soon as it looks presentable i will let you all know... And of course, any advice etc will be welcome as well... For the moment it's a rough draft [or will be once i've added enough names]...
Talk later everyone... I will be back soon, i'm sure...

We might have to contend ourselves with celebrities born or/and having lived [or living] in Essex for the list..
But yep... as news and infos regarding Essex, it's ... Could be the topic for another page perhaps... but err not just yet... I thought i had finished with Douglas Adams [at least for a while], but i found myself adding more stuff... I know there is still more things to add, but i'm going to try to concentrate on Tom Baker now... Things can be added later on if needed [mmmmm... it will certainly be needed anyway]...
talk later [again]... Found the stuff regarding Tom Baker... so i'm ok for a while...
Another thing about the list... Will we continue updating it every time we got a new name or do we set ourselves a target like, for example "101 celebrities with connections to Essex"?!... We could do a part two later on if needed...
Just a thought...
Anyway, on my way for more work on the page/list...

Starting to get the hang of it...
Back soon with more update...

Bernard Cornwell - author of the Sharpe series was adopted by a family in Essex. Sharpe is in the fictional South Essex regiment.

Thanks Loup for the information on Shada. Sadly when I went to the library and tried to get the animated Webcast, nothing happened no sound.
Thanks Liam on the information about Sharpe, I am a big fan of the programme.

Eric Morley - Creator of 'Miss World' came to Grays as an orphan at the age of 11. Eric was sent by the London County Council (he was living in Holborn, in central London) to the boys' training ship "Exmouth', moored at Grays which he stayed until the age of 14.

mmmmm.... I haven't finished dealing with all the Bs yet..
Kat... Yes it is a shame about the Animated Webcast... I thought that would be a nice little touch... I might have to add a footnote about the need to download RealPlayer, though it can be a problem if the PC is too slow... Haven't tried it yet... If it works with mine, it will be ok for the slower computers...
I might add a quote about DNA's influence on Tom Baker's Doctor Who... Actually i will, the guy deserves all the praises which are given to him...
As i said, there will certainly still be some stuff to add when i will bring the working draft to the Group's perusal...
The idea of making a "101 Celebrities etc.." list is because then, once we've polished it, it won't need to be updated too much later...
And of course, if we get more names, we could start a "sequel"...
It's just ideas for the moment... We will see how it goes first obviously...
I won't be able to spend much time online today as i'm working tonight []... Still a few names in the Bs category to be dealt with... Once that's done, it should start looking like a presentable working draft at last...
It's quite an interesting/enjoyable challenge... Making a list of names more than just a list is quite a exercise...
Talk soon everyone...

Loup I have done more researching this time the Thurrock, Council Minutes.
I am not very good with pc's Loup and it was the very first time I went onto realplayer. The next time I will ask the library staff what to do if there are any difficulties I experience.
Take care Loup.

Kat... Yes, the library staff should be able to help... Mind you when i installed RealPlayer on mine it took two installations... Suddenly i was confronted with the downloading of a new version after i installed the first one []... Dunno if it helped or not yet... Will know when i try the Shada link i suppose...
Anyway, talk soon... Got to go offline... Real Life duties and all that...

Had problems accessing the Shada Animated Webcast as well... It seems that RealPlayer is not the only thing that needs to be installed... Will look into it later on during the week... Good thing i've tried it as well, at least we will be able to give some instructions on how to watch this Webcast so that whoever wants to access it doesn't have the same problems [or at least will know what they need to access it]...
Got some free time.. On my way to do a bit more work on the list/page...
Talk soon...

Back online for a little while...
One important question though: where in the universe have the Doctor Who related pictures been hidden?!... I am sure i have seen _at least_ two before... But, even so i have been looking through the Picture Library for ages, i can't find any..
Any help on that matter is more than welcome...
