h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

*This seems to be a non-existant location. You are here, but there is no here where you are. It's just a big purple void that seems to stretch off for a long way with several giant cube-shaped rocks floating through the nothingness (that's got enough light to see by for some unexplained reason).

This is the zone where items from the Althian Bounty Hunter's Telekinetic Cribs are placed when the ATCs return to a hand-held size. This can be seen by the strange alien rat that has materialized on the surface of one of the cube shaped rocks*

*fortunately Lil remains unconscious or she would only start screaming again*

*Kudos lands with a loud BUMP*

SHEEZ! I thought I was gonna suffocate! But... where am I? Where is everyone...?

*starts wandering around, the faint familiar sound of screaming slowly getting louder and louder*

*awakes*
...
*sits up and looks around*
...
Hallo? Caer? Sol? Witty?

*stands up and stretches, then heads toward the rat*
*distance is deceptive and it takes a long time, especially since walking doesn't work the way it should*

*Lil eventually doggy-paddles up to the rock* Hullo Ratty.

*The tiny rat-lizard-thing sniffs in Lil's direction suspiciously, twitches its nose, decides that Lil isn't malicious, and cautiously lies on the cube top*

*reaches in her pocket, finds a couple of tea biscuits, breaks off a portion and carefully places it on the cube-rock near the rat-lizard thing*

Doesn't look like very good foraging here. Can you talk? It's OK with me if you only listen.

*The rat-lizard thing shakes its head, seemingly indicating that it can't talk but that it can comprehend. It approaches the tea biscuit crumbs and begins nibbling*

You remind me of an old friend. If it's all the same to you, I'll call you Styx Junior.

*looks in her backpack and finds a thermos, and has a drink of water with one of the biscuits*

*offers a bit of water to Styx Junior*

It's absolutely schizophrenic. One moment they're trying to kill us, and the next moment they find it necessary to fight because we arrive prepared for more carnage. Completely unfair.

I wonder where I am?

*Styx Jr. shakes its head in an attempt to convey to Lil that she really isn't anywhere*

*a portal opens right next to Lil*

*The rat-lizard thing sees the portal and runs for it as fast as it can. Just before it reaches it, however, an odd bit of static crackling can be seen on the portal. A few moments later, it collapses with Caer, Lil and the lizard-rat still on this side. The lizard-rat seems to physically sigh as it lies down on the top of the cube, seemingly board*

*watching Styx Junior* Ah.

Hmmm, I wonder if we all shouldn't have made a dash for it?

If we had jumped through the opening, where would we have ended up? That is, your jumping through to ~here~ suggests that you didn't want to be ~there~, if you follow my meaning.

There was this disc thingy at the transporter station, going beep beep beep, then beepbeepbeep, never a good sign in my view.

Bass tried to do remove it, unfortuntely he threw it in my direction, hence the icon. I'm not sure I would wnt to go back there if it has been blown to smithereens. I do hope the others are all right

I think I agree with Mark Twain about James Fennimore Cooper, and will forego that pleasure. But can you communicate with that?

I did say 'really' bored. I only ever read it if I'm stuck on the train or in the dentist with absolutely nothing else to read. Even Country Life once it's more than 3 years old fails to fascinate me.
