One more day to go

I am too tired to write anything now so will write up today tomorrow.

One major thing of note. I saw the Ross County team in their bus on their way to the cup final tomorrow. There are big signs up on the A9 saying how busy the road will be as from Perth onwards the Dundee Utd and Ross County fans will all be on the same road. I will be away before them and back before them though. I want Ross County to win.

If it's Thursday it must be Falkirk

I had a good if busy day yesterday. I had a meeting at the new Mart cafe which was very nice although I could do without being surrounded by quite so much meat.

The NPA class went well. They were making a poster on Protection and will do the other 2 next week.

I had one more meeting, spent a bit of time in the office and then went to see R and we had our customary afternoon cuppa.

Took R to Sainsburys and then headed home and made tea for Chris and I. It is unheard of for me to not work on a Wednesday night so it was nice being at home. I did some work and went swimming. Lizzie was in Dundee on a night out but I see this am that she has come home. She brought a few people back to Perth. They must be getting old. A couple of years ago they would have all just crashed at the party.

Off to Falkirk soon. I had Finn out for quite a long walk earlier. Bill is home tonight but only briefly as he is off up to Aberfeldy tomorrow.

Subdued

I feel very fearful and subdued about what having a Conservative led Govt will mean for social justice in this country. I had really hoped that there might be a Lab/Lib pact. I cant imagine that many grass roots liberals are happy about this turn of events. Cameron and Clegg are both career politicians from similar backgrounds. It is the end of the meritocracy in modern politics or at least a break in it. No matter what I thought of Margaret Thatcher ( and John Major who I always think seems like a jolly decent chap) she/he came from ordinary backgrounds. Mind Tony Blair and Harriet Harman werent exactly dragged up so it happens in the Labour Party as well I suppose. Oh well. I will keep on doing my own bit on the ground and hope for the best. It will be interesting to see if the Cons and the liberals stand against each other in local elections (see my point above re grassroots liberals) and it will also be interesting to see what impact there is on the Scottish elections next time.

I enjoyed having that time at home yesterday. I am going to finish fairly early today as well. Lizzie is off to Dundee for someones birthday and is staying over so it will be just Chris and I. I havent heard from Bill. He thought that he would probably be out of signal.

Im really getting on top of the marking which is good. I need to do the Dundee projects and then I think that will be it apart from their Rights assessments ( and the Stirling ones) until after the summer as the Falkirk lot havent got anymore assessed work before the summer.

Im planning on only working 2 days a week over the summer plus doing any work for SOSCN that comes in.

Big Day

Bill has to go into work today. This could be the start of his move towards retirement. He has been up all night preparing his case. Fingers crossed that it happens swiftly and painlessly.

Jan and Chris are coming today but I wont see them as Im off to Stirling soon and then to Glasgow at lunchtime.

Im looking forward to my Glasgow trip. Ive got a bit of time at each side of the meeting and intend doing a bit of shopping before the meeting and going to the Gallery of Modern Art on the way back. I havent been to Glasgow since Borders shut down. Buchanan St wont look the same without it.
