Today's Doodle celebrates the 100th birthday of Jonas Salk, the man who developed the polio vaccine. It's not UK-centric, so everybody should get it.

It wasn't on google.com when I looked just now. That really is surprising. Salk was an American, born in New York City, so you'd think they'd want to celebrate one of their own. His achievement affected the lives of everybody, so I thought the doodle would be used everywhere.

It's on .ca
I'm hoping there'll be one for Houdini on the 31st
with little air bubbles as the Os floating upward in
the tank he was in when his appendix burst.

Today's Doodle celebrates the first controlled landing of a probe on a comet nucleus. It may be only visible in Europe as the space craft was controlled by the European Space Agency.

I thought you meant the Comet, at first.
Yes - it's certainly on .fr, .de and .co.uk, anyway.

I must have been getting a cached version, so.

Quite likely. I've noticed google's page being cached for me more often lately. That may just be from selective attention because of this thread.

I saw the doodle late last night. It may have been put up early to coincide with the intended landing time.

Not a doodle, but today Google's front page has a link to explore the Gombe preserve made famous by Jane Goodall's chimpanzee studies. They have a "street" view tour along some of the trails.

Today's doodle celebrates the 150th birthday of Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. It should be visible all over Europe (I'm in the UK), if not the entire Western world.
