Cool. Though I want to use your Lies for Children entry because I think it expresses an idea which a lot of people will find to be a new one. This matters because I am working hard to avoid having the same writer featured twice.
(There may be two exeptions to that, but both are there to prove specific points about the guide - one being how much its improved over the years and the other being that you can treat the same subject in different ways).

PS - It's not just approved entries - I am up for Journals, articles in the Post, UnderGuide Entries, ILLUSTRATIONS!!!!, and - oh yeah - Approved Entries, I nearly forgot.

For a bit of poetry from Down Under, how about Keith Miller's Shashtars and Dhambouras (UG)?

Okie dokie
I'm getting nervous now.... I've a list in the high 30s of entries by people who have given me permission to use their work, and in the low 40s of entries I'd like to use. I've tried to go for entries which are surprising or above average in some way - that are about things most people don't know about, that take a sideways look at something, that provide personal insights.
The key thing though is that I want the collection to be relatively balanced: I want a good geographic spread of entries about the UK, Ireland, the US, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia and NZ. I'm running light on the last three and another one about Europe wouldn't go amiss.
Then I want a mix of arts and science, and I feel I'm a bit light on the science.
I've tried to get a mix of longer and shorter pieces, but the average is on the long side.
Then I want a mix of factual and personal, and I feel I've got that about right.
This is a list of writers who have given me permission and whose work has made it onto the list.
The question is - who have I missed?
Who writes or wrote really good stuff on a regular basis who's not on this list?
Remember, they have to be reachable so we can get permission, and it's not just edited entries, it's things from the Post, UnderGuide entries, even Journals.

If you're looking for short, sciency entries, you might find something you like among the Post's 'Science EXplained' archive (A14136680)?
Or I'm quite fond of this one of mine: A52007573

What about Tufty (aka Alex Ashman)? A very prolific writer.

That’s quite a list.
Surprising omissions given recent postings in this thread are Keith Miller and swl. Both are deserving IMO and easy asks too. Keith is even regionally apposite.
You can’t leave tonsil revenge out. Sorry, but he’s a colossus.
I would love to see (but presumably we can’t reach them to ask) Farlander, Flame, ianhimself, langsandy, Loonytunes and nadia. Those six have contributed multiple masterpieces. I’d personally count each of them among h2g2’s Top Twenty Writers of all time.
Great work though, Ben. Heavy responsibility, diligently and diplomatically discharged. I hope we all join in and thank you.

Will do.
By the way, I am woefully short on sport too. What I really need is a short poem about the ballistics of Australian spin bowling.
Seriously - I am so indifferent to sport I'd not noticed it as an omission.

Hmmm, I see my name on the list. If it's the thing I linked to in the CA thread, you'll have to include King Bomba - he wrote it, I illustrated it.

You missed South America. And Central America. (And Canada, but you've already covered that with me.)
If you can find Jane Bane, A830431, one of my favourites, would be a nice one to cover Central America.
It seems to me I did something about South America at some point . . .
Now, back to the backlog . . .
Key: Complain about this post
