A174188 by Peta. Naughty, 1st person but in the Edited guide. Tch.
Pretty sure Peta is still knocking around here somewhere! I don't think she was an italic at the time, but can't be sure.

From 2000 there's also Yellow Submarine - the Film A352739 by Bluebottle who's still around. He actually has several entries from 2000, you could have your pick. He has three from '99, but they're all group efforts.

Brilliant. I think you may have solved my problem ladies. You are running ahead of me - I'm half way through the August 1999 archive.
I quite like the idea of including an entry from 1999 and matching it with a later entry to show how the author's grown and changed over the years so Bluebottle'd be perfect, though I've just asked Deke if I can use the one about the Eleanor Cross and there's also Woodpigeon's entry about the population of the world.

I probably wrote something in 2000, although don't pick emergency DIY. At least one of them was 'researched' from only one source. ,

This is my only one from 2000. DIY didn't go live until January.
I STILL HATE HEADLICE. My last infestation from a small relative lost me my dreads 5 years ago. Think I had them at least once again since then. I will refuse to have anything to do with any granddaughters or great neices if I have any between the ages of 4 and 14.

Shameless self promotion? Oh, alright then...
A685055 Lies, Damned Lies, and Science Lessons, was for a while the third hit if you just googled "h2g2".
A22548594 - Crystal Palace Park deserves a wider audience.
A744860 - Klingon. Probably the most concise such entry on the internet.
A656859 - How to make a compression lift paper plane.
If I had to pick just one, it would probably be the first. But only if I'm not allowed to pick... A852699

One of my more serious offerings was A25953230 about declawing cats. I see from Google that it's been referred to quite a few times on the web so if it's had any part to play in saving some cats from undergoing this mutilation it has to go down as one of the more worthwhile things I've written.

That cat one is definitely going in, SWL.
I've nothing outstanding for 2001 - I've a couple of good ones, but it's very early in the collection so I want a humdinger - remember it must be from someone who can still give permission. And remember also it doesn't need to be from the Edited Guide. It could be the Post or the UG (though the UG wasn't around in 2001.....)
Was there anything immediately post 9/11?

Not to do with 9/11 but a nice Post article from 2001. A651719

Croz/Zak the Duck
There're more I'm waiting for a response from, but at least that's something. (Swiv has said no, btw.)

I'm close to having a full list of 42.... Still some tweaks to be made. Nothing from Australia or New Zeeland, though I'm hopeful, and nothing really good from 2001.
We're getting there...
When I've got the final draft list I'll post it up here and then the fighting can REALLY start!

Mikey's permission should open up some nice early oneshttp://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A570296 lists her Edited Entries, and there's a link there to the sea Monkey Diaries, as well.
So, folks that have time and that are good at picking out quality--go for it!

"nothing really good from 2001"
Can I suggest A657623, which starts with a properly terrible pun but gets reasonably informative reasonably quickly?
Or A650675, which is even better if you leave in the original last line "I love mine."
Or A652268, which is full of good advice which still applies ten years on (and I can't quite believe I'm still rocking the same set of bindings I was using ten years ago... )

Okay. I love the remote control one, especially this quote:
>>Gore Vidal said, Pornography is anything you fast-forward through to get to the good bit.<<
Beautiful.
