At least our (UK) politicians are a little more subtle in their manipulative control of the masses and power - sexing up dossiers, bumping off embarrassing whistle blowers in the forests of the home counties, spin doctoring the media etc.
Enemies of democracy are endemic in politics, just some choose not to wear uniform and be upfront

Ha! Mohammed tried that in 621AD and look at the trouble that ensued! 1300-odd years later, Salman Rushdie almost got killed for mentioning it.

>>A single, 400ft-high turbine can earn a farmer as much as £60,000 a year - far more than the average farmer's income of just over £47,000.
The potential profits for the energy companies are even greater.
One turbine can generate more than £13 million over the course of its 20-year lifespan, around half of it from the sale of the electricity it generates, and the other half through a consumer subsidy added on to electricity bills.
Opponents claim wind farms are blighting the countryside while failing to deliver a reliable supply of electricity, despite the cost.>>

I was just about to post that, albeit the guardian version. Some of the things they allege are beyond despicable. How could people act in such a heartless and callous manner
If these allegations are proven true then they really need to shut down the News of the World.
