If the Spanish Inquisition happens to be on that meteorite, we'll be sunk. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition meteorite.

I want to see Stanley A Man of Variety.

Timothy Spall plays all 12 parts.

It doesn't look like it will be coming anywhere near me.

Saw "Sicario, Day of the Soldado" yesterday.

Much action and violence.

Theme relates to cartel involvement in illegal immigrants smuggling, how that relates to world terrorism.

I could have seen that today, but I didn't feel that much interest in seeing it.

Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me!

Anyone seen Bohemian Rhapsody?

As a big Queen fan, I loved it, especially the Live Aid sequence - almost like being on stage there with the boys.

I know it wasn't 100% correct and it features a segway with Fat Bottom Girls that was written long after they went on their first tour of the USA, but isn't that called Artistic License?

smiley - cool

Glad to hear another big Queen fan liked it - me too smiley - ok. Though I did spend the whole film telling my missus - 'that's wrong', 'that's an anachronism' - 'er - they finished touring the Works tour only about six WEEKS before Live Aid' etc.... smiley - laugh

Before I watched it I was expecting not much since the self appointed Queen 'fans' on their official fan pages absolutely HATED it en masse. And apparently all the worlds ills are Brian's fault smiley - groan. Y'know, I'm a queen fan, I quite like Brian May smiley - rolleyes

Yes, loved it smiley - ok

Yes, it was quite a good film.

it's just that I rarely see anything twice. Lately we've had "Lego movie II" and "Wonder Park." Modern movie animation is so far advanced over earlier animation that I can be spellbound at the images on the screen. If the voice actors are doing a good job, and there are at least a few good lines and some humor, I'm pretty happy. smiley - ok

There was one thing in 'Bohemian Rhapsody' that irked me though, I have to say.

There was a strong implication in the film (more thanks strong really) that the success of Live Aid was largely down to their performance there.

Whilst they are generally acknowledged to have performed best at Live Aid, out of all there - and boy is is burned on my brain having the privilege to have watched it when it actually happened - I thought this did a great disservice to everyone else who performed. That's kind of almost unforgivable to my mind, but I manage to forgive as the rest was all cool smiley - smiley

Last night I saw "Gloria Bell," a movie about a divorced woman (Julianne Moore) who meets a divorced man (John Turturro) for an affair that eventually goes wrong. The ending seemed kind of inconclusive to me.

I did indeed see 'Bohemian Rhapsody' with my son, which was the first 12A film he's seen in the cinema. It is one of the few British films to be released in China, but unsurprisingly all the homosexual references were edited out as well as the 'I Want to Break Free' video.

Are there some posts missing in this thread? I'm sure I posted about seeing 'The Favourite' but perhaps that was somewhere else. Anyway, I thought it was very good, if unusual. Warning about 'strong sex' a little misleading. Also the clips shown as trailer misrepresent the overall effect. I can see it's a marmite sort of film.

The following week we saw 'Stan & Ollie' which was thoroughly entertaining even if you don't appreciate Laurel & hardy (I don't).

This week we're due to see "All is true'.

I enjoyed "Stan and Ollie." smiley - ok It didn't hurt that my favorite scene from the original "Way Out west" figured prominently. I can't think of a more sublime dance scene in all of filmdom. Even more remarkable, neither Fred Astaire nor Eleanor Powell was in it. smiley - flyhi

I saw 'Stan & Ollie' for my birthday – I'm surprised it didn't get more awards as I thought it had a stronger plot than 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. smiley - smiley

Plot seems largely irrelevant to awards. There was an interesting BBC4 programme, Mark Kermode's Oscar winners. He was looking at the features that winners tend to have, particularly comparing the competition in different years.

Saw 'All is true' yesterday. I saw it described as gentle & melancholic, which was about right. I suspect much of it was imagined around the known facts, but it was pleasing entertainment nonetheless.
Has the wonderful Dame Judi & a cameo from Ian McKellern, who could ask for more?

The other night I saw "Beach Bum," a movie about a stoner poet in Florida. Matthew McConaughey plays the title character. Not my cup of tea, but I enjoyed the tropical setting. smiley - smiley
