Indeed, you should never let an opportunity go by to bash the Americans...

We watched North by Northwest on DVD at the weekend. I'd seen it before but it was Mrs Scrambles' first time.
It's bizarre to realise that it's almost 50 years old. It still feels so modern. Doesn't look it, obviously, but the script still stands up, I think.

I'd agree with that think Geggs (plus the score is fantastic)
Watched Curious George with the little one the other day. Aww, it's so 'nice' 'Feelgood' movie, nothing amazing, but the kidling loved it - and it made me feel happy. Happy movies are good.

"Notes on a Scandal"
Even as a Dame Judi Dench fan I didn't enjoy this, a schoolteacher with a personality disorder, who becomes obsessed with other teachers and blackmails them into having a relationship with her. Psychologists will love this, but I didn't.

The new Tarantino/Rodriguez double bill Grindhouse has had people leaving after the first film thinking the film is over. Does no-one else find it a little odd that people would go to see a film knowing so little about it that they don't even know it's a double bill with 2 films (which is kinda core to the Grindhouse concept)?
And wouldn't you feel a little silly if you got home and realised that you had missed an entire movie by leaving early?

Hi everyone. For some reason I've never really looked at this thread. It's rather long, and I don't like jumping in without reading backlogs.
And we get films here in Germany a few weeks later than the UK usually.
Having said that, I went and saw "Perfect Stranger" last night. Jolly good story, Halle Berry has gorgeous legs, but the film was still missing that bit of je-ne-sais-quoi.

halle berry.. that perfect 10 beitch!!! [only kidding i like halle and am not in the least threatened by her beauty
films recently, both dvd.. 1st one 5ive, very good, straight to dvd film, even the gorgeous ron perlman and his knicker dropping voice couldn't save this film... 4/10..
and juon grudge 2 [japanese version] i saw the americanised grudge and was very disappointed... but this 2nd japanese version was genuinely creepy, clever interwoven story lines following various victims, ending went off the deep end a bit, but i did get spooked watching it [alone he went to bed] every creak had me jumping, reminded me a lot of the ring, and the crawling thing made a horrible clicking noise... for scare value 8/10. have to go to bed now

Children of Men
The story wasn't that special, but I loved the realistic feel of the movie in general. Like what happens to your feet when you leave the house in flip flops (you won't be able to run away from the bad guy because your feet are in shreds). The dystopian world was incredibly well done and well thought out to the smallest detail. It felt like a future that might be just around the corner. Which wouldn't be very good for any of us.
Also saw Music and Lyrics about a week ago, eurrgh. Hugh Grant was so inaproppriately old for Drew Barrymore that I wanted to slap him away from her. He's also desperately unconvincing playing a nice guy.
