we finally saw CASINO ROYALE on dvd... bit of a mixed reaction... whilst the action scenes were fantastic...and i mean mainly the running scenes and fight scenes the storyline was a little confusing [to us]
the gambling scenes were a bit drawn out and yes i know that was the whole nature of the film hence the title, but thats my opinion... i actually preferred it to himoutdoors..probably cos daniel craig is so sexy and rugged..definitely the sexiest james bond and best action, but some of the oldys are still 1st class with moore and connery, more tongue in cheek humour....
i'd give it 7/10 overall i think it was so hyped up that it couldn't measure up to my expectation...
looking forward to seeing 300...whats the iranian connection you are all talking about? pardon my ignorance on topic...

thanks galaxy babe... i saw another bloodthirsty film tonight APOCALYPTO.....WOW!! excellent gripping film from start to finish..some toecurlingly awful scenes and barbarism... but quite accurate historically isn't it??? [incas and sacrificial pyramids etc]
i'll have to give it 10/10..and i don't often do that...

I rewatched "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World". I consider this one of the better movies of recent years, and somewhat overlooked IMHO. (Can you say "LOTR"?) Russell Crowe really sells the part of Capt. Jack Aubrey, and gets great support from the entire cast. Plus the effects make you feel like you're on a Nelson era fighting ship. The second DVD in my set has some great "making of" stuff.

Indeed, that was a good movie. I like the whole age of discovery, we need another one of those.
Flakey: Apocalypto is supposed to be as historically accurate as Braveheart. Many mayan descendants apparently got quite miffed.
I don´t think I´ve ever used the word miffed before.

we can always rely on hollywood to beef it all up..add a few bits here and there...economise on the truth a bit.. still it was a fascinating film.. i'm sure a lot of it was assumption, although looking further into it the pyramid scene, heads rolling down etc did go on...
clever how we are drawn into that whole arrival at the city and how we are in as much confusion as the prisoners....

It's interesting that during the period of history in which 300 is set the Persian Empire was the dominant world superpower, and the Greeks a small collection of 'terrorist' states which threatened the superpower's security. Sound familiar?

I watched "Norbit"
Imagine if you want to and you probably dont want to, but trust me its the best way of doing this. Imagine "The JerK" with most of the funny and interesting bits taken out, thne in their place inserting some unoriginal fat jokes and twice as much Eddy murphy as any film needs and that is Norbit.
Watching it was like having my face shoved into a pile of rotting fruit and occasionally being tickled witha feather duster. It was funny in bit but mostly I wanted it to stop.
Dont waste your money, unless your going on a date with someone who likes fat jokes in that case give them the money and suggest they go with someonelse that way even though you've wasted the money in the long run you're doing yourelf a favour.

I saw 'The Queen' on DVD last evening and thought it was excellent, Helen Mirren was sensational and deserved all her awards. A few weeks ago I saw 'Notes on a Scandal' with some more fantastic acting, this time from Judi Dench and Kate Blanchett.

I've seen "Premonition" this morning.
Don't see this unless:
1) You're a Sandra Bullock fan (she's in every scene)
2) You love Groundhog Day
If you say yes to those two, you'll love it, like I did.
I've bought "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" on DVD because we both loved it at the cinema and it'll keep my son amused for hours

I saw 'Blades of Glory' on Friday night. As a child I watched all those ice skating competitions and the sappy ice skating movies... this lampooned them all. I think it's one of the silliest, funniest movies I've seen in quite a while. I laughed until I cried at one point. Don't go expecting anything high brow or you'll be disappointed.

I watched 'Deep Impact' last evening and gave it a 7 on IMDb http://uk.imdb.com
- this is on the basis that any film with Morgan Freeman in it increases my vote by 1!

Which would presumably mean you'd give Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves a rating of 1?
Kevin Costner = worst Robin Hood ever.

It depends whether you like your Robin Hood looking like he's twelve years old or with an accent from the wrong side of the Atlantic, really.

Hey, at least Costner's Robin wore reasonably accurate costume.
