Saw "The Good Shepherd" at the SS this morning.
Too long. Dunno if it was my fault but I couldn't keep up with all the ping-ponging backwards and forwards from past to present.
Angelina Jolie is _the_ most beautiful woman on the planet. But, how does she cover up her tattooes? Do they touch-up every scene?

"Little Miss Sunshine", which I enjoyed. An ensemble cast plays believable crazies experiencing an (almost) believable odyssey. Brought to mind "The Dream Team" (1989), Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying", ...
Richard: Oh my God, I'm getting pulled over. Everyone, just... pretend to be normal.

yeah i loved little miss sunshine too... i didn't realise the grandfather was alan arkin at first.. hes changed a lot but i always liked his comedy roles...
we watched GHOSTRIDER tonight... it just wasn't my choice of film, but himoutdoors LOVED it.. but then he loves the marvel book type films, plus he used to be a biker, he was drooling over that harley...
i wouldn't say it was dreadful [people i know have said it was dire] it was ok.. and nick cage is a funny sort of hero.. in some shots he looks quite handsome but others not so handsome.. i don't know wether hes a hunk or not... i'm confused

I liked it
I just watched 2/3 of "The English Patient" but as it goes on...and on...and on...until 1:30am (3 hours)??? I can't stay awake long enough to watch the final third.

"Thank You For Smoking", a satire about a lobbyist for the cigarette industry. I enjoyed it, but I think the book by Christopher Buckley is funnier.
Nick Naylor: My job requires a certain... moral flexibility.

I read 'The English Patient' before I watched it and it follows the book pretty closely. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I cried like a baby through the end and off & on for the next couple of days.
I want to see 'Thank You for Smoking' - had forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me.

Finally got 'round to watching Conan the Barbarian... (what? I like cheesey fantasy, it's just that Conan's always on at some ungodly hour).
One thing troubles me though. Why, oh why, oh why does James Earl Jones' character have a hairdo like Dave Hill from Slade?

Pan's Labyrinth.
That has got to be one of the best films I have *ever* seen. Period. .
Mind it is a wee smidgeon on the harrowing side.
Did I mention .

I hope you like "Amadeus", I certainly did, and so did the IMDB'ers (8.3/10, #79 on the alltime list). Great support from F. Murray Abraham as Salieri, and Jeffery Jones as the musically befuddled Emporer. I'm not sure the image of an immature, petulant Mozart taking musical dictation from on high is accurate, but as they say, "When the legend becomes fact, print the legend."
Emperor Joseph II: My dear young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect.
Mozart: Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?

Also now I have had a chance to sleep on it I honestly think that Pan's is the first film in ages I have seen that is a potential "all time top ten" candidate. Last one was "City of God". Strange that both my fave films of the decade have been foreign language....
BTW.... I have heard some people (not here) refering to pan's as a "Childrens Film". If you have young sprogs please do not let them see this film.... it will disturb them this one is for adults only I am afraid...

I see there is a movie out called Offside, which is an iranian football comedy. That might be interesting to watch, I´ve never seen a middle eastern comedy before.

heck yes i'd agree.. very harrowing film... i was crying away as usual when all you peeps out there have seen it would like their opinions, not about if its good or not cos we all know its excellent, but i think the film is open to different interpretations and interested to see what others think..
i'll be renting it next week as himoutdoors didn't go to see it with me, and i want to see it again anyway... personally i think it was one of the best films of last year, and i preferred it to the departed...

Do I buy Pan's Labyrinth off Amazon sight unseen just cos I can get it cheaper if I pre-order.
or wait until Monday hand over my £3.50 and judge for myself then?
dilemma dilemma.

Hmmm Clive if you generally buy films you watch then like I reckon buying Pan's is a safe bet...
Just watched "The Departed".... Really rather good. Marty on top "Goodfellas" level form. I am glad the film he finally won for was a genuinly good-un, and not just the acadamy voting for him out of sympathy.
However after two such depressing films I think I need to watch some disney or something to get my spirits up!
