Ferrettbadger. The Renegade Master

Just seen "Hulk" on ITV2.

At the time it was panned and to be ohnest no one I know likes it.

However I think it is really interesting, and much the best of the modern "Superhero" movies.

I am probably gonna be in a minority of one on this one though I suppose!

Still haven't seen it, but I'll give it a try if I can find a rental. I did watch one of the A&E "Hornblower" movies again, anybody know if there are more on the way? The lastest I have are "Loyalty" and "Duty", sold as a DVD pair.

Hello all

Not really a 'film' in the strict sense - but we just watched 'The Thornbirds' (8hrs spread out over a week).

Great TV! Not my usual style, but gripping stuff.

Kind of the film equivalent of what Mummy Doodles refers to as a 'holiday read' - not surprisingly, I suppose, given that it is a straight page-to-screen adaptation of the Colleen McCullough pot-boiler.

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

Watched about 20 minutes of 'Runaway Jury' last night.

What brain addled idiot came up with that idea? Gene Hackman should be ashamed of himself.

As should Will Smith for appearing in a film with a mis-spelt title. Which I won't be going to see as I can't ecven see the title in question without wanting to put a brick through the screen.

You have to despair sometimes.

I've just read the reason for the spelling. Fetch me a bucket, I'm going to be smiley - ill

According to a post on imdb:

>>Why is "happiness" spelled wrong in the title?

>>It was the misspelled name of the son's daycare. Will Smith's character refers to it several times during the movie, one of which was right before he and his son share their nicknames and the meanings of those nicknames. Also, the name is painted on the front window of the daycare and can be clearly seen at times.

So, the answer seems to be, as the film is a biopic, that the word was mis-spelt in reality, and that the real-world mis-spelling has been preserved in the film. So the word is mis-spelt, they acknowledge it is mis-spelt, but it was the spelling accurate in the sense that it's the spelling the owners of the daycare centre used (though they were, of course, wrong).

Dunno if that makes any difference.

The explaination I found was slighly different, and more twee:

"the word "Happyness" in the title has been taken from a mural children have painted on the Chinatown daycare center where Chris Gardner takes his son. The mural reads "Fun Joy Happyness."

When Chris points out the mistake, the daycare lady replies that it is not important to the children how the word is spelled, only that they have happiness."

Bucket!

So we've either got some really cloying writing, or an accurate description of a really cloying event.

I don't know which is worse.

My film course starts next Tuesday - the first film is The Golem. Any experience, opinions?

" ... the first film is The Golem"

I haven't seen it (assuming its the 1915 film), but the reviews at imdb are good. It does remind me of a good prize-winning (2001 Pulitzer) novel "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay", which opens with a "Golem" sequence. Sounds like quite a legend, one that I was not familiar with. More here:

Are there any good films out on general release at the moment? I don't want to watch Apocalypto, and I've seen Perfume and Déjà Vu...
