Having just read the thread regarding txt speak I have to draw the conclusion that you will jump at any chance to slate LDers

So I will make the following remarks:

1. What about the users who come here from other "chat" related sites...Yahoo/MSN/Buzzchat/Yoome2

2. As an Ex LDer yourself, maybe you should be trying to make others feel more "comfortable" about using this site

3. You quite clearly made the statement "dregs of the earth" and pointed it at a singular group of people....DEFAMATORY

4. You blame one group of people entirely for bringing "txt speak" to this site....well there are certainly enough users on here who have never encountered LD and use this language so I suggest you maybe re-think that particular comment

5. You quite blatantly admit that you feel you are "better than everyone else" and are an "elitist"....how very humbling of you to grace us with your presence......but beware young lady (and I can say that as I am 15yrs your senior) you may encounter someone who will knock you off that self appointed throne upon which you seat yourself

Quite honestly I look upon the majority of what you have written as the rantings of an immature person who has neither the good manners nor intelligence to accept people for who they are

You're acting like a J-Lo (don't be fooled by the rocks that I've got, I'm still Jenny from the block)...or in your case "from LD"........but have to "trash" it at every given opportunity

Oh, and by returning to the thread when you thought everyone had gone to "get the last word"...just proves my point on your immaturity.....as does the post you put to Loup on the "txt speak" thread that went something like "presents butt"

Thankfully, however, for the main part, the rest of the h2g2 community do not share your views

Can no one see how uttely childish all this is? Okay fair enough Elsa, Jinty, Rebs, Jen, Trish (did I miss anyone you are well in your rights to stand up for yourself and on behalf of others since you all come under the 'category' of 'Ex-LDers' being one myself I would do. But why bother? Surelry it is best to just un subscribe from this conversation and leave it at that. No point in arguing against someone's opinion, however stupid and offensive it is.

Could we all be doing something more constructive please, its squabbles like these that are un wanted on a sight like h2g2, it tarnishes OUR good reputation . I'm saying this as an ACE by the way.

To however it was who mentioned about 'text' talking...who are you to insult the way people write. I like to know why you think you are so perfect. If you don't like the text type writing then tough, its how that person wants to right and personally I don't see why it should bother anyone.

To the girl who started this whole mess...why bother?! I'd think twice before you make a comment again..I've read all through this forum and have been upset at your remarks and deeply offended. You've gave your opinion, now could you please leave it at that, comments like your own are not welcome.

and I did see someone say...'learn to write'...that is the most offensive comment of them all I'd say. If someone genuinely had difficulties spelling or just ain't good at it full stop...then you should respect who they are, just cause they can't spell doesn't mean you should be rude about it

Some comments i didn't have a chance to post on the other thread:

"Contributing to the site..."
As far as i know, every researcher got the choice to contribute to the Edited Guide or not... If they do, it's great as the more Edited Guide Entries the better...
If they don't and choose to solely post to conversations [chat-like or not]it's fine as well... Contributing to the community side of h2g2 is also very important and somehow encouraged...

The people who have replied in this thread _do_ actively contribute to the site... As ACEs and/or contributors to various projects [some of them being opened to everyone on h2g2 by the way..]... Some have also written some quite good stuff on here... perhaps not Edited Guide Entry material [because of the format/content... _not_ necessairily the quality] but could fit nicely in the Underguide... Who knows... Doesn't matter really as _at least_ they do contribute in their own ways to the site...

To a question asked on the other thread regarding how many ex-LDers have contributed to the site, i will reply this: While i don't mind the extra work involved in collecting this kind of information [actually Manda and i have been trying to do something around that line regarding entries and projects created by ex-LDers] i would like to point out that the same question _could_ be asked about other h2g2ers... We see a lot of people registering to the site but how many are actually actively contributing out of them?!... Could be one reason why we seem to have been "taking over"; if they were more of the other registered researchers around, perhaps we would not be visible so much...

To carry on with the impression of us "taking over" [i'm not having a go... i'm just clarifying a few things], if we were to compare the number of ex-LDers registering per week with the number of other researchers registering as well, the figures might not be as big as it sounds...

To go back to what i was saying, it's easy to find faults in others.. I'm sure that we could [if we wanted] find faults in _every_ researchers on this site... That doesn't mean that we should go around and insult or/and put them down because they haven't done something _we_ think they should do etc...[]

I remember having read a posting about "h2g2ers' own site".. What a strange concept... This site belongs to _everyone_ joining whatever the site they come from... There is no second class and first class membership as far as i know...

Mention of an "extension of LD"?!.. Don't i wish people were checking their facts before making this kind of comments... While a few ex-LDers might not have _yet_ noticed the difference between h2g2 and LD [the same apply to other newbies who come from other sites by the way], _many_ have made a point of becoming a part of the whole h2g2 community and losing the "LD way"... This is now echoed [despite some delays in updating due to unexpected technical problems..]in some of the h2g2/Lders Space's pages/projects... And it was not sudden either; the feeling of belonging has been there for a lot of us ages ago already... Shame that some established h2g2ers would rather ignore that fact to "prove" their point..

Like for any other newbies and not so new researchers on the site, all we ask is to be given a chance... Comments like "LDers are the dreg of the society" are certainly not the kind of thing expected from another h2g2er... Especially when that particular researcher was earlier on talking about respecting the rules and other members...[]

Oh yeah... i almost forgot about the "intelligence" issue...
Aren't we confusing intelligence and education in here?!... I've met in my [long] life some people who didn't have a chance to go to school but were some of the most intelligent persons i've ever talked to.... While others who had quite a lot of exams/degrees under their arms didn't exactly come up with the most intelligemt things to say at times...
Anyway... It's nice to be proud of one's level of intelligence, but boasting about it and putting down others saying [more or less] "I'm more intelligent than all of you!!!!" is just sheer arrogance and certainly not the most intelligent thing to do...

i do not use text speach/writing - it reminds me of a form of *american speedwriting. anytime i do not understand anything i ask. you rarely every get a posting with lots of text speach the most common one used is lol and that is all. ex-lders do not use text language than anyone on the site.

*american speedwriting was very popular in the 70's and the 80's as an alternative to shorthand as it was much easier to pick up than pitmans or t-line shorthand.
