People in relationships may have children. A relationship being interracial doesn't make the people involved or their children animals, so I'm voting against "breeding".

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm being serious. If we're going to be PC about this, let's get rid of "interracial". We're all the same race, aren't we? I mean, unless someone's implying that "black" people aren't part of the human race?

The point I'm trying to make is that we can be as sensitive as we want about this, the original name of the topic at least gives people a fair idea of where the "person" who started the thread was coming from. It gives you a chance to brace yourself before you jump in an all.....

My personal opinion is that leaving the title as it is,takes away the power that the "person" who put it up there intended. ... They thought that they would either get a rise out of us (which they did, but not with the consequences they intended) or that they would have a bunch of their like-minded fraternity agreeing with them.

Instead, they had a bunch of people who have the guts to stand up against that mentality. In otherwords, stealing their thunder.

If we change the title, all we would be doing is hiding the fact that some KKK wanna-be got a slap in the face, intellectually.

The entire point of the title was not start a conversation about animal husbandry, it was one person's desire to draw like-minded people out of the woodwork.

The title stands as a monument to the fact that there is power in the people who chose to laugh in the faces of people like that.

If people want to start a discussion about "Human Interpersonal Relationships" or "Interracial Mating", go right ahead. That isn't what this discussion is about. I think the last 412 posts prove that it is about fear, hatred, xenophobia, and racism.

I agree with Mudhooks. I would not have had interest in a thread called Interracial Relationships or - even worse! - Interracial Breeding Relationships. It was the ugliness of the subject title that drew me here - I wanted to see what was being written and then put my in.

Anyhow, even if we change the title here (as I have done again) it doesn't change the title on the original h2g2 list.

Humans (Homo sapiens) aren't a race, we're a species. All individuals that can propagate sexually, resulting in fertile offspring belong to a species. Human race is therefore taxonomically incorrect. I think races of humans are best compared to those of domestic animals, to denote the (staggering) genetic variability. However in taxonomy i rarely see "race" used. It's subspecies and varieties, a subject taxonomists can get all hot and bothered about.

Pedantic
