Yes Jodan and you have been previously, deservingly nominated... You were among those several I mentioned before.

It is slightly odd you had managed to avoid learning that, Saturnine. I thought writing (English) was very much your thing. Perhaps there's some belated homework for you to do tonight on the internet.

Yes SEF, it's a sad reflection on the state of English teaching in this country that we are not taught proper grammar any more. This has been going on for a very very long time. In fact the only reason that I (vaguely) know my pronouns from my adjectives is that I was taught the difference whilst studying for my FRENCH O-level

Well, I learnt my bad-ass skills from reading far too much, and writing about the same. I don't believe I have any flaws in my language besides punctuation. I use it all correctly - I know the rules, I can correct others writing. I just don't know the technical titles.
Odd really. I feel a bit embarrassed by it in a way. But I just wasn't taught it. I'm making up for lost time now though.

Saturnine, you have recalcitrant hardy gregarious African or Asian perissodactyl mammals (genus Equus) that somehow relate to your skills?

I know about the degradation of educational standards (it's not just English). It is just that Saturnine might have taken enough of an interest to have researched that sort of thing on her own. Though maybe it wasn't obvious at the time that there was so much she was missing because the school wasn't teaching her.

For some reason I missed this thread first time around.
Yes, I have just read the entire backlog.
I got mentioned three times. First by agcBen, then GTBachus and lastly (but most emphatically ) by Jodan. I offer belated thanks to all of you.
Now, 'tit for tat' and 'quid pro quo' notwithstanding, I'd really like to mention JODAN who was still a relative newbie when this thread originated.
JODAN's many successful contributions to the Edited Guide in the past year would distinguish him sufficiently to be included in any updated list of h2g2 legends.
But even more importantly JODAN's contribution to the creation of the UNDERGUIDE and his ongoing supervision of the UGlies and their Undermine, sets him apart on a special intercontinental shelf.

Amy Pawloski, aka 'paper lady'--'Mufflewhump'?!? click here to find out... (ACE) Posted Feb 12, 2004
I *still* nominate Ottox (first time was post 18 or so... somewhere in the teens, at least), although several of the newer folks on here won't have come across him very often... The man used to *live* on h2g2 (I used to tease him that he was living on Pacific time, when he was still in Denmark. (BTW, that's a 9-hour difference))

Saturnine:
...you have recalcitrant hardy gregarious African or Asian perissodactyl mammals (genus Equus)
that somehow relate to your skills?
A question as to how your donkey related animals are *bad*, (ie recalcitrant) and somehow relate to you on a skill level.
OK, it wasn't that funny but now that we've flogged it to death it's just pathetic...

Njan!
personal reasons for liking him aside, isn't he the sweetest, most level-headed voice of reason? and he's been here forever.
how about paperbaby? surely the youngest researcher to 'sign up'?
speaking of which, amy p, for her paper presence and her enviable popularity.
tube! he's just so...
i think everyone else that i'm thinking of has been mentioned.
oh, who can forget justin the preacher!

Well... that's two assumptions I've been caught at in one day...
I hearby nominate Jodan... (I really did think some one else had already done so)...
and if I'm wrong again ('cause I thought you were also) I also nominate SEF...
You both are prolific here and altruistically helpful to all that ask for help.

I rather thought Saturnine got the joke anyway (before the lengthy explanation and re-runs here and on other threads) with the wink in post 249.
