Actually, I wasn't gunning for anybody, Mr. Strange.
Just trying to keep the record straight because I've found if you don't do that the Nerds come in and spread another pack of lies or maybe stacked deck of lies like they've been doing for just a few hundred years. Then pretty soon I'm forced to say, "Why of course that's true. I heard it somewhere else too. Must have been Nerd 473 that repeated it. Nerd wanna cracker?" And then it goes downhill from there of course because I'm being a racist or something.
But you can see now what we're up against right?
"nobody's alive who took anybody's indian land anymore now and hasn't been for at least a hundred years or more!"
Guess he didn't hear about Gail Norton or the BLM huh? Funny, I never thought of THEM as DEAD, but you never know.
But seriously, thanks to you and the others for sticking up for me. It gets pretty lonely sometimes when all you got to stand on is the law. It's nice to have some real people standing by you too. I hope the Nerds don't rag on you too much for it.

I agree that you shouldn't run into a debate and not stand behind your viewpoint, but let people do what they do, when really, such people are far more harmless than the bigger issue: BUSH.
The person in question all ready "detracted" enough. Well, detracted isn't the word I want.... Anyway.... NErd42 did raise the Under God issue, which is well worth pursuing. I believe govt should leave faith to the preachers, not the politicians.

... I agree with Analiese(Sp!??), too. There's a lot of miseducation in this country.

I've done a bit of reading...
(no? really?)
and I find that it is sometimes very hard to judge the pilot when you are a passenger.
Out of all the millions of people on the continent, only one person at a time gets to be President.
We have had fewer presidents than there are states.
We may never know exactly what he is thinking or feeling or doing.
I hope most people never find out exactly what I am thinking or feeling or doing.
I know you might think it is presumptious to think of myself as being on any level with the president. He has much greater responsibilities to the world and his country and the future. Not necessarily. One man is one man. And unlike that piker in Iraq, at least a form of democracy was observed in order to put Bush in power.
Hussein has not met his responsibilities to anyone. This 'dictator for life' stuff should be obsolete, but look at Khaddafi and Castro...
and that Master of the Turkmen.
However you feel about Presidents, the longest any of them ever served was almost eleven years.
Some of these 'dictator for life' characters have had their wish.
I think there are times when it is cruel to be kind.
Let's get this particular unpleasantness over with and move on to the next one.

BUSH IS the big problem right now alright.
Especially because he's pandering to every Christian fundamentalist prejudice that's ever existed practically. And they're just eating it up apparently because they've found the wonderboy that'll give them free rein to micromanage the universe. Nothing like having your lunacy institutionalized instead of your person.
But despite their claims of being servants of God, they actually crave to be in charge, because God obviously made a lot of mistakes that need to be corrected like letting Muslims and indians and people of color and wild animals and wild open spaces inhabit the earth.
That's why "Under God" is such a crock. If they really meant that we wouldn't even be having this discussion because none of the ignoranuses would even dare speak for God, however you want to interpret His Holy Word.
Manifest Destiny isn't dead folks. It just changed costumes a little. And it's still the product of hypocrits.

Well, I can maybe see how you would feel that way, Mr. Revenge. However, I've done a bit of reading too and I've concluded, probably contrary to current popular opinion, that there has never been a president of the United States who couldn't make a bad situation worse by getting into the middle of it.
That's one of the reasons the bad situations keep proliferating. I don't think there's suddenly been a new technological breakthrough that's increased the production of dictators significantly. But you sure can make it easier for them by creating countries out of colonies for them and buying them armies to keep everybody in line among other things. All in a good cause naturally. Has America ever supported a bad cause?
Well, some of us would reverse that question and ask if America has ever supported a good cause or at least ones that didn't make a few Americans rich while the rest got to salivate and say, "Hey if he can do it, so can I if I just work harder." Little do they know. It's not the working that does it. It's the getting others to do the work that does it and always has.

There was a thread some weeks ago discussing that point - ask people before you just add them... I don't think it's wrong.

Here, here, Analiese!!!!
Now... let me say that I hate how the words of the Bible are twisted and turned to fit political agendas all the time. "We're all God's children, God is love... love thy neighbor..." WHERE is THAT right now!??
What is this Under God!??
RAF Wing... Lookee I'm Invisible!! Posted Mar 6, 2003
Well, I think you're sort of right about some words being twisted, but I also think that some of the twisting is already there.
Like if you examine the first four or five books carefully you might detect a certain revolution going on.
Specifically, in the beginning God is for everybody and is even a little bit plural, but as time goes on, God becomes the one and only exclusive YHWH, a power very attached exclusively to a group of apparently dispossessed Egyptians with questionable connections to the Land of Canaan that they'd like to make less questionable.
These people were apparently engaged in reforming their tribal system into something more patriarchal and disciplined so they could conquer those people who had been living around their ancestral graveyard for a very long time.
So in a way, the Bible is a journal of imperialism or colonialism right from the start and it's interesting how the people evolve in this fashion by suppressing or dispossessing their women. There's maybe some sort of lesson there I think.

But isn't world history about war and imperialism, *winners* and *losers*. Why should an expansionist religion like Christianity be any different?

I saw that this morning. I like the fact that the *accused* is a lawyer! I also find the fact that his son removed it and he didn't interesting. I like to think I would have the courage of my convictions in front of my children.

I also find it interesting that they bought the offending(?) shirts in the selfsame mall that asked them to remove them.

I guess they fall under the category of things you can buy or sell, but not use.
