You never see coal bein' delivered through a coal hole anymore. When I was a young whippersnapper, there were holes in the ground outside people's gates and the coal man would pour the coal into this. It fell straight into the coal cellar. I used to see this when I was visitin' me Grandmama in the big smoke.
