I'm male and I don't know what a battle roll is, can't do one and don't care that I can't.
PH for the day: Being stopped in the street and asked for directions. It would be best if I just said I don't know the way to their destination, because when I later mentally go over the directions I have given, I realise I've left out some important information.

I'm female but, like Lusus, I don't know what a battle roll is and I don't care that I probably can't do one. (I am curious as to what one is, but I don't care enough to look it up.)
KB, define overly showy. My engagement ring isn't the usual 'diamond solitaire' (lozenge shaped sapphire with three small diamonds at each end), but I don't regard it as showy. Are we talking about Princess Di replicas or just masses of diamonds? Is a single large solitaire diamond showy? Can you post a link to a picture of an example of an 'overly showy' engagement ring?

I expect Mr603 is just trying to generate traffic to his 'controversial' Twitter post.

I think a battle roll is a bit like an egg roll. But camoflaged

Is it a spring roll, perhaps? (Cooking being one of them female pastimes/responsibilities.....)

The technique of presenters talking off-camera, like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZyvogk4E88#t=1m24s
Who are you talking to? There's nobody there. You've written and presented this programme, it's not an interview. You're the narrator so don't talk to thin air, talk to us, the viewers. We're your audience so look us in the eye as if you're talking to us face to face. Look into the camera.

Lusus, it wasn't my post. It was some arsewit who deserves wider ridicule.

Hard to give a description that would cover every kind of overly-showiness. In the end it's a matter of taste, anyway. But I'd say this is but one example: http://wanelo.com/p/2731874/engagement-ring-cushion-diamond-double-halo-pave-engagement-ring-in-14k-white-gold-es922cuwg
Or these three: http://www.glamour.com/weddings/blogs/save-the-date/2012/09/glamour-exclusive-monique-lhui.html
...Although I know some people probably love them. (And I'm unlikely to be wearing them anyway, after all.)

having to unsub from convos because one poster drives you crazy and keeps popping up
that butterfly lady - it's awful. Look in the freaking camera, or put someone there so you can pretend to talk to them.

There was another series where they kept doing that. What was it... I can't remember now, but same premise - looking off-camera as if there's someone there. Oi, we're the audience and over here

"I hate women thinking they're all special when they can't even do a battle roll."
And I dislike misogynistic idiots who judge how people game by their sex.

Ah, I remember what the other programme with people talking to someone off-camera was - Hugh's Three Good Things. A short 'Behind the Scenes' video. One of these people was probably responsible for making the guest chefs do that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9fTMwfq2ps
Can we please point them all to the 'B Ark'?
