Pastey - why did she give up the veganism?
Petty Hates
Pastey Posted May 31, 2013
She had some fillings done that were playing up and making it hard to chew, and we were on holiday so the only soft food contained a lot of cheese. Then she missed the taste of cheese.

PH: Colin Murray. There's no correlation between talking as much as you can and good broadcasting.

PH: people on tv cooking programmes (or any other programme come to that) who talk while eating. Or start talking too soon after tasting something. Yes, Nigel Slater I'm looking at you!

Och come on. He's Nigel Slater! If he didn't talk with food in his mouth, he wouldn't be able to say words like 'scrumptious' with the same consonant sounds!

I love his programme, the food and his books. But I loathe the way he talks. Yeuch.

Over the past four weeks I've worked pretty solidly on two OU assignments. I am now so mentally exhausted that I can't settle down to read. Most of my computer games require some mental effort, so they're not an option. I'm reduced to channel-hopping to find something that I don't need to concentrate on. Right now I'm watching CSI: New York.

I usually leave myself signed in to hootoo. I hate it when the system sometimes signs me out automatically as I have to find the notebook where I've left the passwords and then readjust from the unknown (to me)skin back to goo. That really IS petty isn't it?

Two Petty Hates today:
1. People who think that good weather gives them the right to inflict their taste in 'music' on the neighbourhood.
2. Toilet paper where the last sheets are stuck to the roll so firmly that you end up with a handful of useless strips of paper. Our usual brand doesn't have this problem but we're using a different brand (think cute puppies) because it was on special offer. This brand has major problems at that end of the roll (aside from not being as good as our usual brand). We won't be using it again!

Probably the kind you canĀ“t get the forst sheet off without shredding half the roll? Love them.

oh yes I think first sheet glued to the roll is much more annoying than last sheet glued to the tube....
todays PH: when you catch your own cheek with the string of the bow *pain*

People who go straight into "Zombi Mode" as soon as the drive into the supermarket car park, driving slower than walking pace, while looking for a parking bay?.
Not content with that, they continue after they have selected the largest b****y trolley they can find, then go round the store nipping other folks ankles, and leaving their trolley right in the middle of the isle ,while they spend ages making up their minds as to which meat to buy?
Then, after spending 15 minutes in the queue at the checkout, empty their trolley very slowly, then, and only then, when the cashier tells them the total cost,.....they start then to look for their credit card!!
If you are having a really bad day......they forget their pin number...................Happy shopping
Smudger.

That was heartfelt Smudger.
I take it that you aren't a great fan of supermarket shopping then?

I drive slowly in supermarket car parks as I'd never forgive myself if I ever hit one of the ubiquitous feral children who roam between the cars.

Sho - employed again! Posted Jun 11, 2013
same here, and because of the idiots who back out of their space without looking.
And you have to walk slowly to the shop because of the idiots who back out of their space at mach 2 without looking
and then you can't control those trolley wheels so sometimes you catch someone who is looking at their list (normal behaviour in a supermarket) and all you can do is apologise
and if you're doing a weekly shop for your family, on your own, and they zip everything through too fast for you to put in your box in your trolley, then get huffy when you can't get out of the way quick enough - so you put everything in your trolley before you pay
even though it inconveniences the people behind you for about 30 seconds.
I always smile at everyone in supermarkets - they are hell on earth but they are the best way for a lot of us to do our shopping.
I reserve my special loathing, however, for people who go to supermarkets between 12 and 1.30 who don't have to shop at that time (yes, lunch break) and dawdle around as though everyone has all the time in the world to get stuck behind them

quotes Posted Jun 11, 2013
The most exasperating experience in a supermarket is when people decide to just stop in the exit doorway. I think perhaps the act of leaving the shop triggers something in their minds to make them realise they've forgotten something.

Pink Paisley Posted Jun 11, 2013
Leaving a supermarket always reminds me of the things that I have forgotten. I always forget something. I don't usually go back.
