The girls in the office are just raving about the new James Bond film and watching the trailer in their lunch break. My PH is that I'll have to go and see it in German. Unless, perhaps I can find one with German subtitles..............

(if you want to see an action film with a bit of smiley - drool in German try Schutzengel)

PH today: my brain has stopped functioning properly.

I'm confused. You're clearly able to speak (or at least read and write) English. Why can't you see it in English?

You know, there /are/ theaters where you can see a movie with subtitles, even in its native language.

Yeah - *I* can - but this would be one of the things I would do with my husband, whose English is OK to converse, but not to understand a film. I go and see loads of films on my own in English. We are quite lucky with several university towns nearby that most blockbusters are available somewhere in the original sound track when they come out and there are even film festivals and art house cinemas if I really wanted to find some obscure stuff. So most of the time, I buy the DVD when it's going cheap and put my headphones on and watch films on the laptop with the English sound track. Not the cinema experience the directors have in mind when they're spending their millions, of course.

A big action film with little dialogue is fine in a cinema and a good way of spending an evening out with hubby. And James Bond is a tradition.

PH: people taking umbrage over editorial comments. If you are in Writing and Publishing class, it's assumed you'll pursue this as a career of some sort. Editors, especially academic ones, can be worse than anything that class came up with; them whining won't make me, as a person, go easier just cos I know who wrote the piece. Having said that, there is a way to couch these things and some of us don't really know how to do it right, yet. And I believe, despite the above, it shouldn't have been in class (one on one would've been better maybe) and guidelines on feedback should have been given beforehand.

PH 2: not being able to prepare sufficiently for said class for various reasons and having a bad memory hit you like a 400 mile an hour train. That wasn't nice.

was using my google maps (android) on my phone yesterday to navigate my way around Köln. And for some reason couldn't get it to display in the olde classice mappe stylee, but the areal photograph version.

In what way, when surrounded by buildings of at least 2 stories high, does having a view of their roofs help me orient myselff?

Hmm, good question. Köln is a cool place to become lost, though. It is full of fascinating bookshops. With cheap books. And really good food. Realllly good food. smiley - drool

Bludding targeted interwebs adverts.

A couple of weeks ago I was looking for a shed. On Saturday I went and ordered one from a local shed shop (there are more of them than you might imagine).

Now wherever I go on teh interwebs, I see pictures of sheds.

You tube? Sheds. Blogs? Sheds. Football forums? Sheds.

Shed, shed, shed, egg, beans, chips and shed?
