That's why I wash with sandpaper."
I only use soap for face and certain smelly areas. For the rest I use shower gel and a body buff, much easier to keep hold of. The snag with the body buff is that it has a sucker attached by a short loop of thick cord. If I try to hang it by the cord, it sometimes falls off the hook. If I hang it from the sucker, it falls off if the shower enclosure is too wet. I could place it on the soap dish, but water draining off it makes the soap go gungy, which isn't nice to use.

But the body slime stuff leaves me feeling slimey no matter how much I try to rinse it off. The result is that I don't know whether it is gone or not.

I got some great soap samples from my sister (not sure how she got them but never mind ). The soap smells lovely and is perfect for shaving I use shower gel and my body buff when washing though. Shower PH - the lovely Dead Sea exfoliating stuff I got from the Avon is great, but makes a right mess of the shower when I'm rinsing it off.

Rain. My idiot friends putting their family dramas all over Facebook. How on earth can your friends solve these things? I really don't want to see things escalate. Plus employers WILL see this.
Did I mention rain? And not having any chocolate in the house.

Under the shower, presumably, else it gets clogged up with all the the grease.

Agree 100% PP. I've never understood the popularity of shower gel for that reason. Sure I can see it's advantages; less messy for example. I do use the stuff when I'm away from home as it's far easier to transport or course.
Perhaps it depends on the water softness in your area, but in general I too, never feel like the gel is off, whereas soap washes off almost instantly. Plus you have much more control of dosage with soap, from a tiny dab to a mass of lather.

Plus, it seems to take a big handful of the stuff if you're hairy whereas soap is, to some extent, self regulating

...the dreaded "non-drip cap". The principle is the same on shower gel and ketchup bottles: no matter how slowly and gently you increase the pressure, it all spurts out at once. Meaning you get far more out than you wanted, and also that you waste three quarters of the product you buy.

The idea that shower gel is more suitable for travel seems rather odd to me. Even if you're not flying, the risk of spills is always a hazard. A bar of soap can't leak, takes up less room and weighs less than a bottle of shower gel.

I'm thinking more of coming back with the partially used product though. Wrapping in bags etc is required and it can all get quite messy.

..which reminds me of a petty hate. The fact that hotels/guest houses throw out barely used bars of soap every time a guest leaves. Any form of waste is an anathema to me, and all because people are too prudish to consider using a soap that someone else has started (shock horror!) never used to bother anyone in the past, before 'hygienic' liquid soap came along.

Rod Posted Aug 23, 2012
Are they actually thrown out though? They wouldn't be if I was a chambermaid...

winnoch2 - Impostair Syndromair Extraordinaire Posted Aug 23, 2012
Well I can't imagine what else happens to them; every place I've stayed in always has a fresh one and there would be far too many for the owners to get through. I'm sure some staff will take a few bars home, but mainly I expect if the packet has been opened, then it'll be chucked when the guest leaves

Which reminds me (?) The waste of perfectly good TV time. Normally, what I watch is preselected, recorded programs.
On the odd occasion (last night, The Indian Doctor). I'll watch direct and can tell immediately if it's expected to be popular (it was) because of the length of the intro (and then subsequent) addies.
Expecting more addie than proggie? Recordie.

Oh yes. And. The cut-to-ad in the middle of a scene (or even a word) without any sort of warning. Quite deliberate of course but still infuriating at times.

Commercials in general. An "hour" long program really isn't much more than 40-minutes nowadays. Even recording the thing ahead of time or getting on DVD and bypassing commercials completely can't fix that.
Hotel soap: My Mom always takes them when she goes.

Re: shower gel. I think the trick is to use one of those shower "scrunchies" and just use a small amount of the product. In my experience it's only slimey when you apply it with your hands. But then I'm not a hairy man.
Re: hotel soap. Surely as long as they inspect it well and pick out any stray pubes it shouldn't matter if it's already used? Actually, do pubes even exist these days?
Re: hour long/40 minute TV programmes. The 40 minutes is reduced even further by the little segment just before the adverts/just after the adverts - "here's what we'll be showing you after the adverts"/"here's what we showed you before the adverts". Considering half the world doesn't even watch the ads, how short do they think our memories are? Even if you do watch live TV, surely if you've already forgotten what they showed you before the ads, you've wandered off to the kitchen, forgotten what you were doing and picked up a book by the time the adverts are over?
Re: the slapping hand. No, changed my mind on commenting.

Ridiculous as it sounds, I don't think staff would be allowed to take left-over soap bars with them, even if they were going to be thrown away. People have been sacked over smaller "offences".
