Regarding 'Scotland the Brave', there's a show on Radio 4 called 'I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue'. Regulars include Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor, One thing the 'performers' have to do is sing one song to the tune of another. On one programme one of the 'performers' was asked to sing 'Blame it on the Boogie' to the tune of 'Scotland the Brave'. Now, every time I hear 'Scotland the Brave' being played, I think of 'Blame it on the Boogie'.
It's not a Petty Hate, BTW, just something that happens.

24 Hours in A&E is finished for the year. It was amazing, but it's back next year. I could not do the jobs of the doctors and nurses seen on the show.
Anyhow it finished, and my PH is this: why and how do you follow up such a classy, amazing show with more trash about Trash Sex Book of the Moment? It's been done, Channel 4, you've got other things... like Paralympics programmes and things? More of that would be nice; makes me feel I could play wheelchair tennis and win a medal. We all need something to dream about even if we don't do them.

What, to dream about them even if you don't do 'em? Not my thing, sweetheart and if it were, I wouldn't a) write a rip off of Twilight fiction, or b) go on national TV and say rather blithely, "Why yes, we DO have handcuffs/whips/whatever in our bedroom and we use them." It's like your parents; you do not want to know. I dislike Meyer, but I really do hope she's suitably annoyed about this (not read the books but I don't think Twilight was... as explicit with the sex).
Anyway. PHs. The running order of the BBC 1 news today. Tia Sharpe has been ID'd. Why isn't that at the top? That is, a feel, a little more important than the fact A Level A grades have dropped a bit; even Assange and his a***holery is more important than that, I reckon! (Begs the question, though, are they stopping dumbing down exams?)
PH 2: Britain will not give Assange safe passage. However they cannot arrest him. WHY THE BLOODY HELL NOT. Britain is NOT behaving colonially. Ecuador are being unwise in saying that, I think.
TLDR, the news is driving me a little mad.
PH 3: there's no food in the house; will someone send me pizza and beer, please? LOL.

Am I being naive in my hope that Julian Assange will be able to live out the remainder of his days in Equador, out of harms ways of America and its cronies? Personally I am glad he gave some countries a kick in the nuts by revealing bits of info they didn't want us to know, even if a lot of it was trivial.

Lusus, dear, it's NOT about that. He is wanted in Sweden on rape charges! Feck America and Wikileaks, he steps outside that embassy, he'll be arrested and sent to Sweden, THAT'S why he wants political asylum! If he's sent to Sweden they'll (probably) send him to America. I backed Wikileaks at the beginning, but now I do not. Assange needs to face those charges because you should never, ever get away with rape. Ever. THAT is what this is about; Wikileaks comes second at the moment.
If he assaulted those women, he needs to answer. If they were wrong, in their evidence, they need to answer too. It is about Wikileaks too, but that's in the background. Why are Sweden involved? Because of those rape allegations. It sickens me that Ecuador are giving him protection.
PH: Assange managing to turn this onto Wikileaks when it isn't really about that in the first place.
PH 2: crafting characters. Painful business.
PH 3: whoever are senior admin at the Uni of Ulster in Jordanstown have made the ENTIRE university look like fools and we are embarrassed and ashamed.

When someone is labelled as an "undesirable", the most common and effective way to bring them down is character assassination. I'm not surprised in the least that he's a wanted man and suspect these charges are trumped up. I'm not dismissing rape as a misdemeanour or anything, ho nonono, but like it or not it's a very easy charge to pin on a man.
If he's guilty he should of course have the book thrown at him, but there's something very fishy about it all. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Why are Ecuador so happy and confident to stand up to the might of the EU and USA? I look forward to watching this saga develop.

Sho - employed again! Posted Aug 20, 2012
in all this, let's not forget that some of the information that WikiLeaks put out there compromised the safety, and possibly lives, of some agents. There is NEVER an excuse for that.
And if he didn't do what the Swedish authorities said, then he should go to face the charges.
And if he didn't want to be extradited to the USA, despite what our feelings about their activities are, then he shouldn't have been releasing their sensitive information. Or he should have been a bit more circumspect about how he did it.
Or something

Yeah, I must agree that some of the info released was pretty stupid and reckless. I do like what they stand for though.

I absolutely believe that organisations (governments, companies etc) should be held accountable. But I also think that sometimes people should really consider what they are doing and what it means before releasing sensitive material

Slingback shoes - because of the smacking. I am such a control freak, I can't stand it when my shoes do things on their own.

I have 2 soap related petty hates.
1. Specifically Pears soap which I buy from time to time because the smell reminds me of my grandparents. It wears away extreemly quickly. And I'm not THAT dirty!
2. When it is wet, soap is incredibly slippery. On a bad morning, I dance my way through my shower as I hop around trying to save my feet from injury from soap that has slipped from my grasp.
