But that's a non-sequitur, fords. Car insurance doesn't prevent hit-and-run...

PP, perhaps, but it doesn’t say, which worries me a bit. It’s university accommodation, and i really don’t think they’ve EVER done it like that before- I’ve been with them for a while, so... dear God, I don’t know. There is good news though; they’ll do the mods I need without a whole rigmarole of people involved. Never been happier than to hear that!
RE the whole “leaving the place in a mess” thing- you cannot in uni accommodation. You are out of pocket if you do, not them; the student must pay for repairs or breakages that are clearly their fault (you get a list when you move in, you have to tick off that things are there and what state they’re in- that’s your “insurance”, if you will, “it really was like that when I found it”.)
The PH is going to be when I pay for the beginning of the academic year until the VERY end (which is the end of June), then get kicked out at the beginning of June! Happened last year, will happen again and at the most inconvenient time possible for a disabled student.
Ah, Bea, our dog does that and the sea of white across the study, ohmygod no not cute. Annoying.
PH: certain people who are like "oh no I don't want to know meh meh meh", and you know that if you go and do it, they'll want to know what was said/will happen/where you're going, who with, when... bugger off. Also, people who leave the decisions to you- no. I asked YOU for a reason, because I am trying to accommodate YOU.

After reading here about the needlessness of car insurance I'm now wondering if I can insure myself against irrational opinions ............

Anna, you told me to leave a message on your space and I did, but you haven't replied to it. So just so you know it's there.

Oh, bugger, I'm sorry. I haven't seen it yet but thanks for telling me!
PH: DSA forms. Just... why do they require fifty different things and others can sometimes not be questioned at all? I'm not saying others don't need or can't have it...

PH: The garbled sound made by lots and lots of different voices talking in a room at the same time!
Made worse by the acoustics in a lot of modern public places like cafes and stations full if hard surfaces and nothing to absorb sound.

My Hubby (from a very proper Norfolk family) has huge problems with my family and their conversation mode, KB.
He is used to one person in a room talking and everyone else listening until the next person politely interjects. I call that tea party conversation.
My family, on the other hand, have 15 conversations going on at one time in a room and each person can be involved in 3 or 4 of them at the same time, butting in and shouting across the room as needed. Probably not the easiest to understand when the Scottish accents get thicker as the night goes on but I do think it is one of those 'Celtic' (ie Scottish/Irish) traditions.
Though if you are trying to read in a train station alone, the random noises are a bit overbearing.

Ah yes, 'Cocktail Party Deafness' really is a . TV on and I'm burgered.
Hearing aids? Yes they can help (I'm told). Mine don't help enough to warrant the inconvenience - or battery costs. The new ones will, he says - at a cost of around £4,000 (& maybe I'm covered under health insurance, maybe not).
In the meantime I'm either ignored or treated like an iriot. Yes, an iriot (I've lotht the thibilantth thoo). Confirmation not required.

I thought that hearing aids just made this sort of situation worse as they pick up everything.
PH: Every morning I make myself a cuppa when I get to work. At about 11 am I suddenly find I have a half a cup of cold tea. Tried it with coffee today, and, nice as the coffee was, I am now looking at a quarter mug of cold coffee.

Aha, I thought that was a well known and cunning trick for demonstrating to co-workers and bosses etc how hard you were working!

I was going to suggest iced tea - but then you'd just end up with a glass of lukewarm iced tea, which isn't much nicer than a lukewarm mug of tea, anyway.

Well yes, but they can be tuned to reduce sounds from behind you, it says here.

They're the ones I'd be particularly keen not to miss!
Perhaps I can trundle out the story of my father and his hearing aids. His hearing was bad, and he most missed not hearing the birds singing. He got some (very expensive!) and put them in. Then the first thing he did was the washing up. He was so much annoyed by the clattering of the plates that he never put them in again.

Sounds like someone I know. The first time he put his new hearing aid in, he went out for a walk. He got to a junction, and the noise of the traffic was so loud it scared the hell out of him - he kept thinking he was about to be run over. So he walked straight back home and threw the hearing aid in the bin.

Ah yes but...
It says here that these ones come with a little remote control (how remote do you want?) with which you can...
Perhaps set them to what you've become used to?

Why is a sport like golf in there? Or volleyball? Or sprinting? What makes them so much more worthy than BMX?
