People who are narrow minded who refuse to believe in the possibility of other things beyond their knowledge - be it scientific, supernatural or what-have-you. Broad minded doesn't mean believing in everything.

Refresher courses.
Is there anything refreshing about attending a course designed to remind you about something you had little interest in the first time it was given?
If you had been interested you would have retained enough knowledge not to need the refresher.

You may not have noticed, but this is NOT a mobile phone screen. You can therefore write as much as you like! Yegads! You can spell words in their entirety!!
Even if people have trouble with their spelling, that's no problem, and not necessarily their fault, but deliberately shortening everything is just damned annoying!
ne1 agre? lol! lmao! Oh, and 'lol' at the end of every sentence is damned stupid too. Are you really laughing your head off at every single sentence you write? If so, shouldn't you be off penning comedy instead of wasting your obviously incredible comedic talent here?!

I used to lol quite a bit when I first arrived - but that was from the yahoo chat rooms and was mainly because I was slightly worried by the smileys...didn't take long to get over it though and I completely agree about txt speak

totally agree Queeglesproggit. It's getting worse as well. Check out the 'questions...' thread. i've no idea what that posting was all about.
I think folk do it to show that they're part of some exclusive group-- if you can understand my language your one of us!!..
Or am i over analysing...
Well its very annoying anyway...

1. Sneak previews. They're almost invariably not 'sneak' previews, they're just previews. If they were sneak previews very few people would see them.
2. People who say, '5am in the morning.' When else is 5am going to be?

Oh yes! The txt spk (on emails as well as h2g2) and the "5am in the morning" things - my two favourite petty hates!!!

religious fanitics, not people who are religious but the ones that feel yiou are scum if you are not religious and that the fact that the bible says god exists is enough for evryone and you are just narrow minded.

Folk songs that don't explain things properly. Read the lyrics to 'Daily Growing' for example. First she doesn't like the lad because he's too young for her, then she likes him, then she takes him into a field for a bit of rumpy pumpy, then she has a baby, then he's dead. I mean, I'd like to know why he died. Did she rumpy-pumpy him to death, or did he get the pox, or what? I think we should be told.

Poetry.
I know, I know, it's irrational, but I can't stand poetry, except maybe comic verse by Spike Milligan or John Lennon. Hell, I can't even READ poetry most of the time. I have to skip any passages of poetry in novels, e.g. Lord Of The Rings. I've TRIED to read it, I really have, but I just glaze by the end of the first verse, or sometimes even before that.
And yet, strangely, I'm OK with song lyrics.

Americanisms like 'Way to go.' What the hell is it suppose to mean? And 'tell me about it' which apparently means 'DON'T tell me about it.' How stupid is that?

The Groob Posted Mar 26, 2003
People who don't say goodbye at the end of phone calls. Why do this? Is it supposed to be an assertiveness thing or something? Or do they just think it will leave me wanting more?

Citizen S Posted Mar 27, 2003
Agree with that - also some people here in UK like saying 'bah' rather than 'bye which I really really hate

People who stink out the office with their lunch...then leave and sit in the tea/lunch room for an hour while the smell clears.

Lady in a tree Posted Mar 27, 2003
Oooooooh - I've avoided the Americanisms minefield so far but just one needs to be mentioned..."Good Job!" when someone/something does something right. e.g
a dog retrieves a ball "Good Job!"
a baby does something correctly "Good Job!"
a fully grown man completes a task "Good Job!"
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

People who say "not too bad" when asked how they are. Always seems a negative response. If I'm feeling good I like to say so.
