I'm sure if it tried, h2g2 could be infinite...

I signed on something on the Starship Titanic -page for a long time ago, began receiving strange and disturbing e-mail from "Ford" and some "leaked information" from "the constructors" of Titanic. Went offline for a year or so, and when I finally got an Internjet-connection at home went back to see what had happened. Via TDV I finally found h2g2... and the rest is history...

a mistake... I was browsing around on the starship-titanic-page (the reason escapes me) and accidentally brushed something-or-other over my touchpad - at least I guess that WAS how it worked, suddenly the page was there. it took me 5 more loooong visits till I couldn't hold my tongue anymore and got registered, though, I was well aware of the addiction-possibility ...
nobody I told about h2g2 here in germany had heard about it, though those were THHGttG-readers and net-users... managed to lure in findus and my mother, though smiley - winkeye

I'm just placing a little marker here so I don't end up reading all that again.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

The (ACE) thing should have given me away immediately, at least that's what *I* believed smiley - smiley

Anyway, I'm now completely past the Festival era. It was fun while it lasted... smiley - smiley

I found h2g2.com on the topic of #norge on EFnet

And what does #norge typically discuss? I rarely go to EFnet except to drop in on #distributed

#norge idscuss nothing. It's the official channel for Norway, which means
that it's flooded with people getting kicked and banned because of:
1. Not talking norwegian.
2. Writing an URL.
3. Write a word right after a #
4. Any other sort of advertising.
5. Repeating.
And I haven't yet seen any doing anything other than this.
I've moved to #stavanger, the official channel for, um, Stavanger, a city.
I actually get to meet and talk to people I actually know there.

Yeah, but that's EFnet in general... which explains why I've rarely gone there since soon after going at all. smiley - winkeye

I've just noticed that this forum is called "What brought you here?" not "How did you come to be here?". There is a slight difference. You could come here because you were searching for HHG sites and it came up with this one, but you were brought here either by curiosity or love of DNA's writing. That's actually what made you click the link and end up here.
I've forgotten what point I'm trying to reinforce now..

Forgotten, eh? Apparently you're not a mouse smiley - smiley

Well, I think I see what your point is: it already holds the answer for most of us, I guess. Most of us got here because of their love for DNA's work, as well as curiosity about what this site has to do with it all smiley - smiley

Maybe we should conclude that the question was meant to be "How did you end up here of all places" smiley - smiley

I guess I joined the H2G2 mainly because I am such a big fan of the Hitchhiker's series since I was 12. I've always wondered why nobody had started compiling a guide yet, so when I found out about this website in a newspaper suplement (Zona de Contacto, Diario El Mercurio.... if you don't live in Chile, this will mean nothing to you), I naturally decided to explore the website...

Joining, as a result, was the most obvious step to take.

Well a long time ago my brother reccomended the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy as a book and I ended up reading the whole 5 part trilogy and the two dirk gently books.
Then a 3-4 weeks ago my brother reccomended this site to me and said I could post anything I want.
Well I have a website so I could do that anyway but here someone might actually read it.
Besides I like to write random jibberish since it helps out the rage. And I have a lot of rage to give out so watch out for my forum entries.
P.S. H2G2? shouldn't it be HG2G, as in Hitchhikers Guide To(2) the Galaxy?
