What is it with breasts?
Xanatic Posted Aug 30, 2002
There is some debate on it. Some believe they just only had one breast covered and the other hung freely, and that was what they meant. Some didn't believe they could remove a breasts wihtout too big a risk of infection or bloodloss.

And there is of course the discussion whether this man-less people lived at all. Refilling of the ranks might be a bit difficult.

Don't you watch Xena? Explained it all that did
I always assumed it wouldn't be done at maturity but at the beginning of development when there was less to remove as it were.

It was actually the Greeks who described the legend of the amazon warriors, and we all know what Greek legends were like.
Xena? Thoroughly historical.
I wondered how long before the Amazons got mentioned after the "breast removal" suggestion from Ictoan. Me, I'd rather borrow the whole woman. She could borrow me in return, of course (a slightly duff bargain from her viewpoint, I fear).

I think they were supposed to reproduce using captured men from other groups. Can't imagine that's very good for you. The ones that get to be the father of your child are the men that were stupid enough to get captured. The good genetic material are the ones that you didn't beat.

Have any of you seen an old movie called "America 3000" (or something like that)? That depicts a scenario that you could possibly apply to how the Amazons find their breeding stock... But then.. Well, the old ancient Greeks were probably better fighters than the men in that movie anyways.

There's also a story by John Wyndham called "Consider her ways" which, however, I have not read, which, apparently, details the manner in which men could be, um, ignored.

There were no men, and yet the human species continued unabated (thanks to StorkTech[TM]). Doubly so since it now consisted entirely of women, who, not having another gender to bitch about, started complaining about trees and gazelles and things instead.
Actually, they didn't. I made that bit up.

They probably just started wars against each other because one world leader had said another world leader could loose a bit of weight. But the wars wouldn't last long, as soon as the female soldiers found out the rest of the army were wearing the same outfits they'd just fight among themselves.

In the converse situation, men would, of course, be absolutely devastated without breasts, or, indeed, ovaries, and mope or ... ahem ... to extinction.

Indeed..*admits to sadistically enjoying the thought of a man finding some orifice to dilate to 10 cm while lying helplessly spead-eagle on a hospital bed..muahahaha* *admits to xanatic that depending on how you look at it, birth IS rather gory if you don't have the stomach or the personal connection to it *

Men would die during child birth and that's just because of the pain (or so I've heard)

i fail to see the logic in the lying down thing. i mean, why push the baby up hill. unless you are unable to be unpright for some reason, wouldnt it be better to let gravity do some of the work.
